Default Helmholtz Resonator to fix exhaust drone

Im aware of how these work and how each truck is different for certain drone RPM's. My question is does having your exhaust dumped opposed to running it out the back or in other locations effect the helmholtz effectiveness?
Wanting to get this done but if it wont work due to it being dumped i may just go back to OEM muffler.

Any help is appreciated

Beings Mustangs have short tail pipe exits probably close to the length of my dumped setup than this will work? I get the drone like the majority of everyone else at 1600-2000rpm.

The helmholtz resonator will only cancel out the frequencies the exhaust makes. The droning caused from the exhaust sound waves bouncing between the ground and bottom of the truck wont be effected by the helmholtz resonator.

Look into a Solo exhaust system. I have it on my 5.0 and there is no drone even with the straight through 4" muffler.

Have dumps will creat more drone because the sound bounces off the ground back into the truck.

Friend of mine has a built 600RWHP 02 Harley, LTs, no cats Y'ed into a single 3.5" pipe out the side like a Lightning and the drone was BAD, headache making!

When you drove over grading on a bridge the drone went away. Because the exhaust had nothing to bounce off of.

He ended up dynamiting the rear wall and under the back seat and it helped a lot.

This post gives a good ballpark to shoot for if anyone is interested. I may try and get this done, even though my setup is dumped it is tucked high close to the spare tire.
