Well I talked to the engine head mechanic at my dealer. He's not at all concerned with the condensation problem and kind of made it to be a small problem. He said if it happens, just give it wide open throttle and it should clear the condensation out of the intercooler.

He said this was a small problem and if it was the only problem with the Ecoboost, he would say this is a great engine.

While I can see his point, I don't know if I'd feel the same way if it actually happened to me.

He and the manager did say the fix seems to be working, and haven't had any 2013 in yet. He did have an Ecoboost in the shop as we were speaking that was getting the fix. He said it doesn't happen much in our area but I never stay here when I'm towing. It's usually in other states I'm visiting. And we do have a pretty humid summer especially right next to Lake Michigan.

I wish I could have talked to the mechanic. He says to give it WOT??? Sorry but that mechanic doesn't know **** about the problem and I call BS. I would have told him that to his face. If giving it WOT was a fix then the engine would just stumble a bit then VAAROOOMMMMM... off you'd go and all would be Unicorns and Glitter. Unfortunately that is not the case, and in the real world as we all know the engine Falls On Its Face as soon as you go to pass or merge into traffic. You have to pull over shut it off then restart it (Presumably if you weren't killed or wrecked)
Im not directing this towards youI what so ever, so please don't take this post as personal. Im just tired of dumba** Ford mechanics who BS there way through the customers concerns.

Like I said, " I don't know if I'd feel the same way if it actually happened to me." I don't think he's seen it happen first hand as it would be nearly impossible. He just trying to think logically which isn't the cure all many times. He specifically said owners need to open it up when it starts doing that and then I made the comment about WOT to blow it out (as others said here) and he simply agreed with that.

Y'all just need to learn to drive defensively. It's very easy to compensate for this when it happens. And you don't have to shut the truck off for it to reset. It will clear itself out after less than a minute.

He didn't happen to elaborate on this did he?
Haven't really heard of any other problems. Unless he doesn't realize the cat converter issue and some other small issues are linked with the CAC.

I think your mechanic is right, but his comment might be taken out of context or maybe out of sequence. The worst thing you could due during one of those 'events' would be to go WOT. WOT would push the problem deeper and eventually ruin the cat. I think the best thing would be to get off the throttle immediately and let the engine recover and then get back on the throttle. After that, WOT would probably clear the rest of the water.

I have to agree with BoostedFx, i have yet to meet a Dealer mechanic state the obvious. There told to not tell the truth by owner and mgr of dealership. Go take this mechanic out for beer and see what he says out of the workplace. From the sales men to the owner there gonna downplay any issues with the Eco. If they told you the truth about the issues would you buy an Eco or go for the 5.0 or 6.2. They would be stuck with trucks on there lot they couldnt sell and would have to reduce price just to dump them. It is easier to lie to customers and encourage them to get Prem Care warranty and cover your ***. I looked my mgr in eye and said your lying but thats ok, i will take my chances on my 2013KR it was just too sweet a truck and i couldnt find a SD in high end model that didnt come w/o diesel and so i took a chance on the f150. My F150 gives me the tow capacity of my SD and the ride and luxury of the F150. Only time will tell if my 2013 AC IC is the new and improved or just a placebo to the truck issues.

i've had the new intercooler on my '11 for 3 months now, truck performs perfect. I only had it fall flat on its face once, called the dealer looking to see if there was a TSB out for this and they said there was and a new intercooler was installed 2 days later.

Guys I'm sad to update, but the 2013s still have the shudder. Mine did it last night, going to the dealer next week. I was told mine has the newest intercooler with shield. I will keep y'all updated as things unfold.
