Default Love the 5.0l Miss my 7.3l

Add another to the list of Ford Faithful. I sold my tweaked '95 Powerstroke and ordered my '12 5.0 FX4. I thought I would miss the power and the acceleration, but I have nothing but good to say about the 5.0. I test drove both engines and the V8 was the one for me. I am getting better mileage too. I got an indicated 21 MPG on a recent ~200 mile trip in SE Michigan.

the only thing I miss about my 6.4 is the look. my eb is faster smoother and less expensive to operate . there is no telling how much power these trucks will be making in a few years once the aftermarket companies catch on .

I got rid of an 06 cummins dodge also for my EB........... My trucks are daily drivers so...

Here is what the EB does better:

-slightly better fuel mileage--EB will do 22 highway and averages about 18-19 per tank... best tank ever in my Dodge was 19.5..average was 16-18
-ride quality.... WOW... dont miss driving that Cummins unloaded
-MUCH more room in the cab-- I had a quad cab dodge... my EB is a supercrew...amazing
-Interior on the Ford is on a whole other level vs my 06 Dodge which was total JUNK... plad upholstery? come on
-Runs on cheap 87 octane

Here is what it does worse:

-low rpm putting around--like cruising through a hilly neighborhood...cant beat diesel torque for that...
-stability while towing.... EB has plenty of POWER for towing but is certainly less stable on the highway than my Dodge was

All in all... for a daily driver i absolutely LOVE my EB and would not go back to the cummins.... dont miss it at all.

I sold a 2011 Ram 3500 SRW Megacab CTD for the truck in the signature. The two primary drivers for trading were (1) the truck would not fit in my new parking garage and (2) sold my boat. My neighbor offered a good price to me. No regrets. I do think the interior, especially on the Laramie Dodges, is on par with the Fords. I find my Ford seats uncomfortable. Ride quality is much better. Engine noise is almost non-existent. The EB pulls strong if you dig into it, but you loose whatever fuel economy you had. The only issue I am having is the vibration from a dead stop to 10 mph and I am getting it on decel as well. I have the Screw 6.5 foot bed. Not sure that it will ever go away based on other's comments. Fuel economy is 16.7 over the first 2000 miles. Mixed driving. Overall happy. You'll still regret not having a diesel and playing with it. My EGR and DPF fell off my truck when I hit a big bump. I put an H&S black maxx tuner on it. Ran strong. EB is good, but apples and oranges esp. if you were making big HP and torque numbers. Quality of the 2012 Ford will be light years ahead of an 06 Ram.

I have owned all of the newer diesels and while they do put out nice pulling power there are to many dislikes to out way the power for me to own another one. They cost more to purchase. They cost more to feed. They cost more to service. They stink. they are noise. They are dirty when you fuel them up, just to name a few. One had better have a trailer hooked to it 85% of the time or you are throwing a ton of money out the window every minute you own it. We won't get into the resale value of a diesel in today's market.
When I owned my last diesel the two best days I owned it was the day I purchased it and the day I got rid of it. Never again will I own another diesel. I like the eco boost so much I couldn't wait to own my second one.

i save about 20 dollars on fill up due to gas being cheaper and better mpg in the eco. 80 dollars cheaper on oil change and the eco goes longer between oil changes according to the oil life monitor. no 60 dollar fuel filters and urea to fill. Do not have to worry about water in fuel and screwing the injector pump like some guys with the 6.7.

Tuning is coming for the EB so I think I will be completely happy when it's tuned. And another thing, the EB won't whistle like a big turbo cummins but it makes a nice whoosh.
Say what??? Mine has NO problems breaking the tires loose from a roll or a dead stop on dry pavement. 2012 Ecoboost, build date Jan 2012

Now, back to the topic. I just traded my built up 2010 F-250 Diesel because I too was tired of putting 100.00 dollars in diesel every week.
The truck was lifted with 35x12.50x18 Toyo Open Country MT's and about 2000.00 worth of engine mods. The truck was bad as hell and got more compliments then any vehicle I have ever had. You will miss that. You wont miss the cost of diesel.

Currently I am getting 23 MPG's Highway in my 2012 Ecoboost. I was only able to get 9 MPG's in my 2010 F-250. You do the math.

BS to rolling burnouts in a stock EB. I have an intake and slightly better than stock exhaust and it takes a certain type of road to break traction. Mostly wheelhops. My dodge would slide out at 30mph.
