Goodbye Tundra...Hello EcoBoost!!!

Thanks for the compliments guys!
Even though I had the Tundra 5.7 V8 with 4.30 gears and 381 HP, this EcoBoost can match it in everything except the gas mileage. That's where the EcoBoost excels past the Tundra. I was towing a 21 foot bass boat with the Tundra and getting 11.3 mpg's. Now with the F-150 Ecoboost (1,341 miles) and the same boat, I'm getting 18.3 mpg's with 3.73 gears. The torque is awesome as well as the mid-range punch for passing vehicles on the highway with the boat. I get the best of both worlds now. V-8 power with V-6 fuel economy!

What kind of boat do you have. When I get back from Iraq I will be pulling a Ranger Z21 and am wondering what kind of mileage to expect. LOL I dont know what I am more excited about the Bass fishing or the new truck.

Man that's a sweet truck! I love that color.
The only thing I hope Ford comes out with in the next few years when I'm looking for another truck that I love on my Tundra is the roll-down back window and the reclining back seat. If they added those that I'd be in Ford in two - three years.
BTW - What was POS about the Tundra? I haven't had any problems with mine yet...

Nice to see your thread.
I'm in an 08 Tundra 5.7, and about to make this same move. Some of the same issues you had. The new Tundra isn't the dependable truck the original Tundra was. I bought the 08 based on my 2000 experience. Toyota is headed down hill.
I'll be towing as well, and that added torque of the EcoBoost V6 will be nice, especially in the Rockies at altitude.
May I ask what kind of deal you got?

Not trolling...read some of my posts...If I were buying a truck today I'd have a hard time picking between the Toyota & the Ford...honestly I'd probably pick the Ford right now.
I like their interiors better than mine. Which is odd to hear because my Ford had some terrible interiors in the past and my Tundra is rattle free...it's just not as nice/plush as the new F150's.
I came here to see how the EB is doing so far and will keep coming back for a year or two. Sorry if my Tundra post put your panties in a bunch.

HB73 thats a nice looking screw you got there! Just in case you haven't covered up that front license plate frame here's a suggestion if you're still thinking about it. I got a black license plate blank from Pep Boys for $6 and painted the screws black. I had to ditch that dealer tag and don't like the uncentered tag look. Of course this is n/a if you live in a dual-tag state.

Sweet truck. The colour is stellar. Its called Sterling Grey in Canada. Mines a XLT 4x4 with XTR package. Basically the same as the chrome package in the US.

I see you have an XTR Package. I saw a truck here in Houston that appeared to have a STR Package. It was race red with a black stipe along the side with and STR sticker and it also had 5.0 emblems on the side where my ecoboost emblem is. Does anyone know what this is. I did not see it online at Ford anywhere.
