Going to the track with my 5.0 this week. I need tips...

Yea thats the thing. My dad has been drag racing for 40 years. He has a 92 Ranger with a 418 windsor that runs 9.90's. Also has his street cruiser thats a 64 Ford Fairlane that runs low 10's. He may be 62 but his reaction times are better than mine. Im hoping to run high 15's. Its raining now so Im not sure if I will be going to the track today.
Ya, your screwed.... Back to the distraction drawing board!!!

Try not to use a pro tree... If your dad runs 9.90's all day he's been on the pro tree for years... The bracket tree ( sorry cant remember what it's called - umm 500 tree) will probably boar him and throw him off some.

Turn off all traction and stability controls.
Have less than 1/4 tank of gas.
Remove as much weight as possible.
You can also remove the exhaust to remove weight, don't expect to gain power.though. You could get real serious and remove the rear seats.
e85 gas if possible, otherwise run the highest octane in your area. Run a tank before if you can and race at the end.
4wd launch(worked for me, some think it doesn't help the 5.0).
If you 4wd launch, over-inflate(45-50psi cold) all your tires. 2wd over inflate the fronts and drop a little pressure in the rear.
You could sabotage you dad a little bit by adding weight to his truck or lower his tire pressure LMAO! Better let him know when you're done though

Since I didnt get to go today I may try the e85 thing. Right now my truck says 31 miles to empty so I am thinking of going and putting 1/4 tank of e85 in it. Does anyone know the mileage drop I will see with the e85? Everyday driving for me Im seeing about 16.5-16.9 mpg
