Gears
Can anyone tell me where I can find 4.10 gears for my truck, also will those 4.10 gears work with my differential that currently has 3.31 gears. I really want 4.10s to help with my acceleration down the track. I have a 2WD truck, don't know if that makes a difference, someone please point me in the right direction on where to find 4.10 gears, also what else is needed to install these gears?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Yes, You can swap them in. One thing i'll point out is if you don't know what's required to swap them in, You may want to play it safe and have a shop do it for you...

Gear installs are scary. The 8.8 inch rear these things use are the same as what are used on the mustangs and coming from the mustang community I've seen way too many of them blow up or have horrible whining. Have a reputable shop do it... This is coming from somebody who won't even let the dealership change my oil because I hate people touching my cars.

If you attempt yourself. Which installing gears is easy if you have all the correct tools and dial indicators. You need the gears, and a master bearing install kit. Along with a set of set up bearings you can easily pull on and off so you can shim correctly. There is also a cheat sheet on pirate 4x4 that helps you get a starting point for shimming the gears. Call Randy ring and pinion if you have any questions

Components for your gear swap are available from Ford Racing Performance Parts
NOTE: Their various install kits are a great way to save $$$$$ rather than buying the individual components. Also ... Since it's a tear-down may want to consider replacing the dif' cover with a girdle ... in addition to adding rigidity - increased fluid capacity, easy access fill plug, and a drain plug.

Thanks for all the information guys, and I will be taking the truck to a reputable shop to have the gears installed, I wouldn't dare taking the task by myself. What should I expect to pay for something like this? Also, do I have a 8.8" or 9.75"
