gas smell in oil
I have a 2012 f150 ecoboost with just over 5500. Changed the oil week and half ago and yesterday checked the oil to make sure everything was good and it was way above the full mark and has a strong smell of gas. Has anybody experienced this or know what causes it?

I know with diesels, when an injector fails to close it causes fuel to be constantly delivered through the injector to the cylinder and will get past the rings and into the crankcase causing the oil level to rise and smell like diesel.
I would guess you have an injector issue.

Get it to the dealer fast. You can read the DCT code with a Hec test of your instrument panel. ''there are many threads on doing the hec test."

If you are sure about the gas in the oil, only a few ways this can happen. None good. You may have a pending code, one that it can't complete due to high heat. Summer is nasty in many places. If you have a code reader check your I/M sensor tests for pending codes. Ford will wish to see it ASAP I do believe. Gasoline destroys Oils lubrication capabilities pronto bringing about damage almost immediate with the turbo bearings. Also if a injector is leaking it will create a lot of carbon and suet, not good.

This^^^ I had the same thing happen to my trailblazer SS, when I checked the fluid level it was a quart over and smelled like fuel. Turned out to be an injector stuck open.

Boost :)
Before jumping to conclusions and making it out to be much worse than it is, go do a little research on DI engines. The oil smelling like gas is a VERY common thing in DI applications. They all do it and its a by product of the design and how it all works.
I just checked mine yesterday and noted a smell of gas too. Not overwhelming but its there. I have almost 21k miles on mine and have done my research and know that it is a common thing. I am not worried one bit. No CEL, truck runs great, and no issues to speak of.
Unless it is an overwhelming smell and you can't really smell the oil too, I wouldn't worry about it at all. Again this is what DI engines do!

I had mine in for this very issue, dealership said everything was normal.
