Just a note, the FX2 comes in 3.55 as well (in case you're not looking at a specific vehicle).

Even up north, the times you can use a part-time 4x4 are minimal. The highways are so salted and cleared so fast, the 4x4 transfer case will burn up if you run it. Even in light snow you can't use it, unless your tires are bald. It's only deep snow, mud and dirt that the 4x4 comes in handy.

Rest of winter, with patchy wind-driven snow and ice, you want an *ALL* wheel drive: full-time 4x4 with a Torsen center differential like the euro SUV's have .

We just bought a F150 FX2, but will be taking it down to Florida every year, so hopefully no snow problems (although West Virginia can be tricky at times). Nice being retired ... you can just wait it out.
