Hey guys - I forgot about this thread but wanted to bump it now that the 2013 eBOV and external-BOV options for our Intercooler kit are available.

from the other thread - I wanted to answer questions being asked about our Intercoolers and the different BOV options, especially with people wanting to use the low mounted external BOV to purge moisture out of the system, before it enters the engine. This is a difficult issue to test here in Phoenix (no rain) but of all the CAC kits weve sold with external BOV, none have reported condensation issue related misfires. Here is a quick n dirty drawing I slapped together:
Attachment 572562
Attachment 572563
This 2nd image’s red arrow shows the pipe where the BOV would be. The difference in the BOV options is only on that pipe:

2011-12 1st gen 3.5L F150 Ecoboost: this has it’s oem BOV located on the compressor housing. If you want to use OEM setup then this pipe is left blank. OR if an external BOV is installed, you can delete the oem valves with blockoff plates. Here is a photo of each (stocker on left, blockoff plate on right):

This next photo shows the tial external BOV on the lower pipe:

2013-14 F150 Ecoboost: this is the 2nd gen 3.5L engine and uses an electronic-BOV located after the intercooler. Many people opt to use the OEM eBOV or upgrade to an external. Here is the e-bov on the lower pipe:

^^it is very easy to recirc this back to the oem intake tube if you don’t like to hear the valve opening (most enthusiasts seem to like it). OR if you run an external BOV on a 2013+ you should keep the ebov plugged in and ziptied to prevent any codes. Here is a short sound clip video comparing these options, all VTA:

Lastly anybody with a 2013 looking to connect an external BOV to any other brand intercooler will need this: http://www.full-race.com/store/ecobo...t-ports-1.html

thanks - have a good night!

Hey Geoff, i have a 2011 and ordered two block off plates, new elbow pipe, tial bov, and the throttle body spacer. Did i not need the spacer for my 2011? Because i didnt want to splice into my vaccum lines, or is it better to do so? Just want to double check.
Thanks, Justin

The TB spacer is a good idea becuase it allows you to run multiple vacuum lines with no Tees. it is not required on a 2011/12 (you can tee it in) but I recommend it! -- the 2013's have nowhere to Tee from so it is required

Ok thanks for the response Geoff! I have one more question, will the throttle body spacer gain any hp like a performance one would or not?

From a performance standpoint ours is functionally identical to any other spacer which increases plenum volume slightly. the real benefit to ours beyond this increase in plenum volume is it gives you the ability to easily add boost ports or additional gauges or vacuum devices. some companies use silly machining on the interior surface but it does nothing, i much prefer to keep it a constant 73mm bore

do you guys have any issues on your truck with cold side charge pipe rubbing the fan shroud? when i added the spacer it pushed the charge pipe into the shroud a little and rubs.

no problems here - try loosening the clamps on both ends of the couplers, and slightly push it in the coupler a little more. btw check your pm!
