Default Ford Ecoboost Engine Carbon Deposits: What You Need to Know

Here is my latest video on the Ecoboost Engines and carbon buildup. I quickly sum up what I was trying to say in my popular video- New Warning to All Ecoboost Owners. I go over what we are seeing at the dealers and what you can do to prevent any excess buildup of carbon as well as the latest information from Ford. This one video should answer most if not all of your questions pertaining to this issue.

*****Note- I mention a catch can WILL void your warranty if added, I want to be more clear on this and state that a Catch Can MAY void your warranty. It is all up to your servicing Dealer and the Ford Field Reps on a case by case basis.******

I saw that video just after you put it out.
You run a great YouTube channel.

Thanks a lot for all the videos you make about vehicles you work on they are very informative.
Wish more techs were like you, that being, took care in what they do in their work AND made informative videos.

I always use top tier fuels usually Chevron or Shell and do the Italian tune-up LOL.
I guess I'll be asking about PCM updates if I'm going to the dealer as I'm still going to them for oil changes for the next few times. Too bad their wasn't an easier way of finding out about when they have an update.

I wonder what the cleaning process will be and if it could be done by somebody at their home garage.

Valve replacement will probably be the only thing approved aside from removing/replacing the head. It would be more cost effective with minimal warranty claims I would think.

Used to have a warranty deal on the old sohc 4.0.
We removed the intake and blasted the valves with crushed nut shells for carbon build up.

Currently not approved by Ford for direct injection engines. According to the video above.

I already asked on your YouTube video as well, but now that the 2015 are showing up at dealerships, have you had a chance to look at them to see externally, if ford has changed the setup at all? I recently ordered a 2015 f150 eb and am interested if this will still be an issue. I am thinking I will install a catch can if it's still an issue and avoid drilling into the passage side turbo inlet pipe and just tap into the driver side factory barb. This is so I can always convert back to stock for warranty issues. I know there will still be natural carbon build up but at least it will help avoid some of the pcv /intake gunk building up.
