Changed every 5k -7k at dealer. Never asked what they used but I've never had it done but at a dealer

Car-part.com has motors for $2K or less and you can forge the bottom end for $2200.00 + machine work.
Just a thought, you just need a rebuildable core and some time if you can deal with it to build a super motor.

The only sound I here in that video is the HPFP, but that is normal on DI engines.

Tough break. Probably a rod through the side. That seems to be the way they fail.

I wonder if it is piston seizure that causes that? There have been several cases of piston skirt fractures which may or may not cause seizing. I am not sure what mechanism sprays the piston bottoms, but I wonder if that could fail causing excessive heat, followed by seizing.
