First Oil Change early?

Question hasn't been asked in 11 hours...
Let the truck tell you. You should easily get 7,500 miles before it does, normally 10,000, or a year.
I was at 6,200 before a 3,000 mile trip and it was showing it would be about 9,500 before it kicked on. I drove the trip and got my oil changed when I came back.
Amazing the amount of people that don't follow manufacturer's recommendations.

No the oil life will not compensate for the first oil change.
Also do some research on the Eco oil dilution, chain wear, etc and decide for yourself how often you want to change oil.
The 5.0l is a different engine with its own oil needs.
Oil changes earlier never hurt. Also in the ford manual it states around 5000miles for extreme service, I like to follow that one as does all the dealerships up here. .

I could tell from oil use. The 5.0 consumes an abnormal amount of oil at first but as the rings set the consumption goes down. I believe it could have something to do with the engine being built for e85 so it has harder rings, but I'm guess a little bit here. You can also do an oil analysis.
The eco seems to get better fuel economy as it breaks in. BTW, do NOT baby the out of your engine during break in. Let those horses sing now and then but avoid LONG sessions of heavy throttle at first.
A weird thing I always do when test driving a new vehicle is find a gear that will get me from about 35mph-55mph without being too low of revs or getting to redline and I floor the throttle then hold the gear and let the engine compression break. I do that three times if I can, the old timers tell me it helps set the rings.

For example, after I put the blower of my truck I went to 5w-30 from 5w-20 and changed the OLM to 70% )previously would set to 90%) after changes so it will remind me at 10% left so really I only used 60% based on the OLM. It was my peace of mind with the extra power and use of e85. Blackstone said I should extend my changes even after one 8500mile change (over 5k was straight highway on a trip), I didn't listen.

Rumor has it the the oil that came in the truck from the factory was a break in oil and should be left in for the first 3000 miles.
