First oil change on 5.0 which route

Maybe I missed something earlier in this thread (?)
From my understanding the molecular structure is different....I can't imagine this is the best idea. Do one or the other, not both (unless in a pinch on a long trip you needed a top off quart or something)

I run Mobil 1 in my 5.0. I have used it for years, and believe it's a great product for the price. I have never mixed oils, and don't know what advantage/disadvantage it would have. Modern oils are the best they have ever been, and as technology advances, upcoming formulas will continue to evolve into much better oil and always be much more than we ever need.

I'm going to do my first Oil Change at 10K like the manual states. I'll also be using Pennzoil Ultra Platinum. I used it on my previous car and it worked excellently. Its just hard to find. I usually buy it on amazon as soon as it becomes available because it sells out quickly.

If you had the EcoBoost, I would recommend full synthetic only....but with the 5.0, personally I would stick with the Motocraft synthetic blend and change around 5k miles. I've had many cars go way past 100k miles with no internal engine trouble using regular oil. But this EcoBoost I have is another story. After all that I've read about direct injection and turbo engines and even the timing chain wear on these 3.5 twin turbo engines, I think it makes sense to use full synthetic.

just sayin that mixing the 2 on purpose was baffling to me.
Mobil 1 (at least the old formulation) had a high zinc content that assisted w/ reduced friction. Have run it in my HD.....

Fast Driver Slow Truck
I've read 100's of threads on oil changes (mostly for Harley's), this is the first time in my life I've read of someone purposefully mixing dino and synth.

there's no issues adding synthetic to dino. just don't expect any of the benefits of synthetic when you do this.
