I'll give you my opinion too if you want it.I've owned my GN for 23 years and had 3 at one time. I think the Hooker catback sounds the best on a GN.The GN exhaust is single from the downpipe to the cat, it has a Y-pipe after the cat (it's dual after the cat) and the Hooker catback has 2 single in single out mufflers. Some people serious about racing run a 3" or 4" single shot exhaust because it's lighter and flows better but it sounds obnoxious as hell, kind of like some of the aftermarket EB exhausts.
Mine has a slight drone (but not too bad)around 2k rpms because my cat is gutted. But I've never heard another 6 cylinder sound as good as a GN.

Forced induction changes the sound (which some/most of you may know), but I haven't heard an Ecoboost I liked yet.

I don't think it sounds bad stock because it's pretty quiet. I haven't heard an aftermarket exhaust that sounded good on one yet.

i kinda like the way the magnaflow sounds.. kinda quiet till you gun it.. even one review i read the owner said while cruisin you cant even hear it... also thought about making an aftermarket exhaust using magnaflow products.. have used them a bunch and completely satisfied especially with our turbo set up.

I was thinking about using the Dynomax VT (with an internal valve to stop the drone). A friend of mine (big into Buicks GN and GS400's...and the Lozano Bros-here in San Antonio) have used them on a Stage III GS and it works and sounds great on the V8...no drone.

I think a 3" Catback with the Dynomax VT might sound good and lessen any drone...we will see

Hey Guys,
I just bought an 11' Screw 5.0 a few weeks ago before i went back to work offshore..Im gonna go run it this friday at State capitol to see what i can get out of it..Only mod will be an SCT Xcal3 with Mikes(5star)custom tunes on it..For reference my 08 DoubleCab tundra 5.7with Longtubes and 22's went a best of 14.22 @98 with a crap *** 2.49 60ft..i test drove both the 5.0 and Ecoboost and mainly went with the 5.0 for the sound,But i think both engines are great..Hey EngineerMike maybe you can meet up with me and run your Ecoboost as well..Don't know if you remember me from GOI or not but i have the same screenname on there as well..Oh and guys im not starting a pissing match with the Ecoboost vs 5.0 as ive read alot of pissing matches comparing the 2..Like i said i think both engines are great and sometimes i wish i would have bought the Ecoboost..I actually told my wife the day after That i should have and she got so frustrated that she said "Im just gonna buy you some damn Ecoboost emblems to put on your damn truck" lol..Well ill post the results friday night guys..Hopefully the weather is decent!!!

Yep, I know you. I definitely want to go run the truck, but was waiting on a *particular* tuner to be released.
