FAILED my first emissions test
Last month my plates came up for renewal. Of course it was at this time that a spark plug cracked and I set a engine code. Got the plug replaced, but the computer got reset so it wouldn't pass the emissions test. Applied for temporary plates and continued to drive the truck. It's been a full month and the temporary plates are due so we took the truck in for a test. Fail.
Catalytic converter: not ready
Heated catalyst: unsupported
Secondary air: unsupported
AC refrigerant unsupported
02 sensor: not ready
Heated 02 sensor: not ready
Does this mean the truck didn't go through a cat test or does it mean the cat is dead?

What is this emissions testing you talk about?

I would clear out the ECU /erase codes an take it for a long drive with a full tank containing 10 percent ethanol. You should complete all test by then an show so on your meter.

Boost :)
The "not ready" fails are not going to be fixed with a long drive or more miles. They are drive cycle dependent, so it matters more about how many times the truck has been turned off and on and allowed to check for all of those things.
We have emissions here in Austin as well and are allowed 1 not ready and still can pass. I have helped countless people pass theirs, and it all depends on the number of cycles the engine goes through. Granted, you can't just sit there and turn the truck on and off over and over and have it work or fixed. It still has to be driven, but a long trip will not fix it.

I'm so glad to live in a state without all this BS.

Have you been doing mixed city and HWY driving? It needs both for all checks to take place.
So I reread what you posted and think something else is up. It's really weird that you wouldn't get a check engine light after a month and have all those not ready. Tell us what your driving consists of and how you drive your truck.
