Question New member need help

I am new here and am planing on buying a 2013 Eco boost
I will be levelling it and installing 33" tires
I have heard that I will loose lots of fuel economy and would be better off going with the 5.0L
Not sure what to do ??
Currently have a 07 diesel 6"lift valair dd clutch edge programmer 37" toyo mt's
S&B Cold air intake
Will I be happy with a Eco boost ??

Welcome koot. You will take a MPG hit with both the 5.0 or eb.
The eb has the highest torque numbers of any half ton pickup
but it is not what your diesel is.

Thanks I realize it won't be what my dodge is and I am looking to down size. I don't really need a diesel truck as I find my self only pulling my 29" TT about ten times a year
I just am worried about not having the economy or HP that I am used to
I love the truck I test drove 13 FX4 felt great loved the interior lots of power
But with 33" tires is it going to drive the same or will I feel a big loss in power an fuel economy??? Thanks again guys I am sure these questions have bein posted 100X

I went from a 2500 HD w/Duramax and 35's to an E-boost FX4 leveled with 33's.
Diesels are good for 35's with no gearing changes etc(I still averaged 16mpg while lead-footing it on level 4 using the PPE programmer)., and throw 35s around like they're on stock tires. 37s they start to feel. You won't really feel a power loss with 33s on an E-boost, but you WILL feel the loss of mileage. Initially mine didn't seem like it was gonna lose a whole lot, but then I realized my programmer didn't adjust the speedo accurately despite me plugging in the appropriate data(SCT's are different than programmers for diesels, in that instead of you simply plugging in your tire's diameter, SCT wants RPMs). I had to drop from the 627rpm the manufacturer of the tires says they run, now down to 620rpm, and I'm within 1-2mph at 70-75.
I went from easily getting 20mpg on flat freeway surfaces to 15mpg MAX, and only if use the cruise and set it 70mph or below. My average mileage(I live on a hill) dropped from 14mpg down to mid-11's. I purposely even bought a truck with the shorter 3.73's hoping that they'd lessen the mileage hit with the 'bigger' tires.
I bought a 'custom' mileage tune, but haven't been able to use it with my bigger tires, 'cuz the 'tuner' locked out the 'options' menu in the Programmer when using his tune. I'm supposed to have him email me a new tune file to compensate for my tires, but since I'm still not totally sure how to get the programmer to ACCURATELY compensate for 'em, I haven't contacted him yet.
I went with a 'true' 33(33x12.50) and I would suggest you going with a narrower tire. Nor more than 11.5" wide. From what I've figured out, the increased width and its resulting drag is causing a large part of the mileage loss.
Bottom line is, if you're looking for 'diesel like' power and/or mileage, you're NOT going to see it with ANY Ford gas motor.

My 2011 eb get's 20-22 mpg summer & 18-20 winter. mileage
seems to vary a lot on this forum. I'am thinking about doing the
level &tire deal too. IMO mileage would suffer more than power.

2011 eb 4x4 screw &3.55 ls gears

Thanks..... I am starting to re-think this. I was on my way to sign some papers but don't think I will now. Need to do some more research and talk to a few more people
Any one else have input to tire size 11-12.5 wide - difference in economy ??

The 5.3 w/ cylinder deactivation actually seem to do better mileage-wise.
A GREAT resource for 'Real World' mileage is fuelly dot com. Zillions of people keep track of their mileage on that site.
I checked the 5.3L and the E-boost, and the GM seemed to average out over all the reported vehicles at 17mpg, while the E-boost was 13-15mpg average depending on whether the vehicle reporting was a 2 or 4wd.
To the OP, if you can afford it, I'd SERIOUSLY recommend going back to the diesel. The new Ford('11+) is looking REALLY good mileage-wise. I'm talking high teens around town and mid-to-High 20's on the highway. Combine that with its 400/800, and you're GOOD TO GO!
I wanted one is the worse way, I just couldn't afford the $55k MINIMUM cost of entry. Of course if you don't NEED 4wd, prices get cheaper. I just happen to be a MO-RON

Some will have some kind of mod(s), but with the amount of people reporting, the relatively SMaLL number of vehicles that are lifted get washed out in the average. Just not enough of 'em to affect the numbers.
