The evidence of a tuner left on the PCM
#11
Ya I talked to Rick at livernois and if the tune is set back to stock is virtually impossible for a dealer to find any trace to a tuner. It can be found but it's very very difficult.

Mine had been returned to stock for a week when I took it in for the condensation issue. CEL was on. In less than an hour they had ordered new cats and new intercooler. No mention of a tuner.

From what I read here and elsewhere, Ford (the people who WROTE the instructions in the PCM) has given the dealers very in-depth instructions on how to search too. It's called reducing losses on warranty when unapproved modifications are made while under warranty.

My concern would be getting a CEL (unrelated to the tune IE: condensation issue), then return it to stock for service and when the truck was flashed back that would erase the CEL.
Can anyone confirm this?

all these dealer techs, They don't give a crap. They are there to get cars in and out ASAP to make more money. That is all. So no one should really worry.

Out if curiosity did the CEL come on when it was tuned? If so after you returned it to stock did the CEL remain on?

If you put the stock tune back on your truck, run it, and then disconnect the battery for a minute, and fire it up again, the computer will be completely reset, and will even have to 'learn' your driving habits again.
Now if you have a bad tune/tuner that fries your computer, you will be SOL, and buying an expensive part.
I'll pass a fine bottle of Brandy to anybody who can show me that a dealer 'discovered' that a PCM had been previously tuned. Especially on used vehicles that they've traded in, and re-sold.
