The injectors are very noisy on these 5.0's. I took the foam covers off mine and they were very loud.

I did that yesterday and let's just say... I put them right back on the truck, haha!

It's the injectors pulsing, my Tacoma, Tundra 5.7, and 12' Durango Hemi RT all ticked louder than the 5.0 in my truck. It echoes in drive troughs. I did crack an exhaust manifold in my Jeep GC SRT8 and it made the same sound except it followed the RPMs and wayyyy louder. Could hear it inside the car driving.
It's normal.

I definitely never hear it inside the truck with the windows up and the only time you can hear it with the windows down is sitting still and the sound bouncing off the ground below you.

It seems so far that this is just normal for all of you and now I am not as worried like I was in the past.

JV, thanks for the audio/video. I do hear your injectors, but also hear the same faint "whump, whump" (not a knock) mine makes. I hear it also when I pull into the garage, and not everytime. I'm thinking now it must be some kind of echo down at the bottom of the engine, caused by the exhaust. So, I guess we're as normal as anyone can expect us to be.

No problem! I know hearing any noise in video/audio is better than just me saying it makes a tick, knock, or whatever noise and wondering if it's the same you have heard yourself or something totally different...

Over the many years I have been associated with cars and trucks I have heard similar sounds and the cause was usually one of the three, so I just offered my best guess with what I heard.

Since my last post my truck developed a very similar "tick". I'm convinced its in the valvetrain. My dealer tried to pass it off as a "normal characteristic" which is nonsense. Goes into another dealer monday. Heres a short video of it.

That's definitely not the normal sound I have in my engine. You have a much louder and pronounced tapping sound. There may be a TSB for your issue.
