A tuner is needed to raise the speed limiter. One reason for the limit is not to exceed the speed limits of your tires and, therefore, make it unsafe. Without the speed limiter, speeds of 130+ can be reached, depending on gearing. Ask me how I know.

I have an SCT Tuner with 5 Star Tuning custom tunes, Airaid Modular Intake Tube, and AFE Dry drop-in air filter. I do also need to upgrade my factory tires. They are little too soft for towing my camper and develop a bit "sidewall walk", contributing to sway.

You are gonna get a bunch of responses about how dangerous it is to go faster than the limiter, just giving you a heads up on that.
Almost all new vehicles have them if not all. My 2007 GMC had one.
The only way to get rid of it is a tuner like said.

I installed the tuner for better drivability and towing, not increased speed. I don't make a practice to exceed the speed ratings of my tires. I rarely go much over 85-90 mph, when extra speed is needed for passing. It was a "test run" and has since not been duplicated. I take responsibility for my own actions at that time.
