Ford corporate is ENTIRELY to blame.
I will agree with you there. I do feel however that dealers should be pushing back at Ford regarding these common issues much harder then they appear to be though.

Why would Ford service managers address this. It is all about money and this is a cash cow for them. So what happens when this truck gets its forth timing chain. What will ford say then.

OP (dcd?), oh me, I feel for you man! Wha' a mess Ford has made with this issue. It's definitely widespread enough that many potential customers are being turned away from F150 trucks. Me being just one. I love my '02. Been a good one so far, but only 115,000 miles, that's not many for 13 year old truck.

Here's the scoop: I'd be at my local dealer TOMORROW to buy the '14 Lariat 4x4 Ecoboost - EXCEPT I know it was built in June 2014! I feel like I'd be taking a gamble. Not all Ecoboost engines have the issue, some have gone way beyond 100,000 miles with not problems. But, I ain't nary gambler with $40,000 of me own lucres! Dagnabbit. Just when I find wha' is really my dream truck, Ethyl loves it too and has given me the ok to buy it.

The only internet social media I do are these forums (if this is social media). But I wonder if maybe a bunch of y'all boys shouldn't flood Twitter, etc. about the timing chain issues? I don't know, but Ford needs to DO SOMETHING!!

Is it me or does this seem to happen to a lot of Canadian trucks?? Is it the temperature differences or something? Strange, maybe it just seems that way.

I don't really know. Ford would though. I can tell you where I'm at in Canada the Climate is very mild not too far from Seattle. For the guys in Northern BC or Alberta, maybe... My 2011 made the noise in the summer when it was warm too.

You know, I noticed that too. Hmmmm, wonder if cold weather has anything to do with this? It'd be interesting to see some data on Ecoboost locations that have the timing chain issue. Another thing to make me weaken on that '14! I'm in south.

While my data is not scientific I can tell you the problem has happened for guys that were using synthetic at 5000 mile intervals. It's also happened to trucks that followed Fords recommended interval using both synthetic and synthetic blend oil. I really don't think this is an "oil" problem specifically. It may contribute but I believe there is mechanical issues that Ford engineering either cannot fix, doesn't know how to fix, or does not care to fix since they are onto new models.

Copy. Reason I asked is it seems to make the noise until oil pressure builds and oil gets to the tensioner. I figured if someone was using a low quality oil it would drain down and not be available for the initial lubrication of the tensioner.
