Ecoboost waste gate/bov problem

Interesting. Mine's in the shop now. Similar issue, not the chirping sound, just the blow off/waste gate whoosh sound. At first it only did it tuned, no codes thrown. Finally it started throwing a code, P0299 (underboost) from memory, but only only when tuned. It was like it thought it was building too much boost and letting it off. Started under slight continuous load low rpm, could generally downshift to 5th or 4th and it would go away.
Started doing it later on just when I really got on the gas pedal to take off. Would do this not tuned as well. It threw a 0234 (overboost) code during this, so I cleared it a couple of times but was able to repeat - stomp on the gas, it would start to take off, hear the whooshing sound a number of times, it'd back off the power and go into like half power mode and then the check engine light would come on. They tried changing the waste gate but I guess it is still doing it, so we'll see what happens.

Not sure if you guys have found the solution to the problem in this thread or not. I was having the same issue. long story short a tear in the BOV diaphragm was the underlying cause to the problem. The tear is only visible when the BOV is in the closed position (the engine is in Boost) and therefore explains the boost leak. When the BOV is open (the engine is in Vacuum), the rubber diaphragm stretches and the tear is pulled tight and seals itself. I will be replacing the part tomorrow and will update once it has been fixed. Part number for anyone who needs it AA5E-9U465-AD
There is a thread about my problem/ symptoms here with the fix: http://www.f150ecoboost.net/forum/31...4-screw-6.html

I had an exhaust leak about 6 months ago and it looks like when that was repaired the Vacuum line port on the right side upper CAC was broke off and had glue on it. They replaced the CAC tube and haven't had a problem since.

Subscribed. I've had this issue with MPT, SSI, and canned SCT tunes. Always at low RPM under load, just as you describe. Does not do it on stock tune. FWIW, my strategy code is KGCH0C5.
I currently have 72,000 miles on the truck. Since it doesn't do it stock, the dealer can't repeat it and I can't just walk into the dealer and suggest they check the timing chain? What's involved with that anyway?
Not sure what to do, but I'll be watching this thread for suggestions.
Edit: I've had no codes thrown, and I run 93 octane whenever I can get it, even though I'm currently tuned for 87.

Mine seems to just dump boost when you give it 1/2 throttle or more taking off when the engine is cold. Seems to straighten out after it reaches temp most of the time but sometimes it looses power through the whole RPM range and sometimes it just feels like inconsistent on its way up the RPM (jerky power jumps up the RPMs with constant throttle input). Also have noticed a 2-3 l/100km increase over this summer.
I was thinking O2 sensor but it could be dumping boost or a boost leak? I donno.

What ever happened with this? I have a similar issue and got the under boost code in my 2013 and they replaced one of the intake sensors. Haven't had another code but it didn't fix my other issue. I hope this helps.

BUMP!
So what's the verdict on this?
My truck seems to be "over" boosting at low rpm. I hear what can be described as an exhaust drone noise when it is occurring. I can make it most noticeable when rolling into the gears ever so softly, then when it rolls into the bottom of 3rd, I get on the gas moderately, without making it downshift back to 2nd.....spark advance shoots to around a "negative" 10 and knock sensor shows positive numbers.
I'm not alarmed by the knock counts, but the "drone" noise that comes with it, along with the negative spark advance.
Could worn out spark plugs cause this issue or is it more than likely the "wastegate actuator" getting gimpy on me? I know there is a tsb for them on my truck but it's like pulling teeth to get the dealer to check anything without a CEL or DTC.
Edit....I want to add that, although it's over boosting, it feels like it's significantly lacking power when this is occurring. If I continue to throttle through it, you can feel the power gradually set in (almost like a 2 cycle dirt bike), and it will then start to pull again like it's supposed to.
