I just put the Magnaflow 17124 kit on my truck. Was supposed to be a side exhaust like mentioned above when I ordered it based on the diagram they had shown on the website, but it's not. It is just dumped right in from on the rear axle. Still I put it on to see how it is... sounds OK. I figure I can modify it later to come out the side like it was supposed to. It's not the V8 grumble that most people like, but this is a 6 cylinder so it sounds like a 6 cylinder. I'd say it sounds like an '87 Buick Grand National.

Performance wise it seemed to pick up a little bit, not sure. You can really hear the turbo's spool up a little bit.

Took the truck to the track after putting it on and ran a 14.6 at 95 mph with a 2.08 60 ft... 92 degree day and it was about to rain so I drove an hour to the track and hurried up and got in lane and ran right away, so no cool down time. I was pretty impressed. 4x2 Supercrew EB.
Be interesting to see how this will affect the life of the turbo. I've never had a vehicle with a turbo before so I know that exhaust flow affect the speed of the turbo. Should be interesting to see as people get more miles. Have you towed with this yet?

There won't any affect on the turbo, everyone that has a turbo'd sports car, let it be a EVO, WRX, STI, anyone that owns those vehicles always sooner or later change the exhaust, certain dealerships will even change it out brand new!, and ran it for years and years, I for one will be getting new exhaust for my EB

Yeah, I towed a 3400# enclosed trailer a few hundred miles the other day. Towed fine, no drama there.

A cat-back kit like the Magnaflow won't affect anything on the turbo... the exhaust is still being restricted by the cats. Maybe a full turbo back exhaust might, but I don't think it'd be anything to fret about. Dunno?

putting in high flow cats will change the turbo back pressure and may void your warranty- guess you didn't read the TSB from FOMOCO?

dead horse.

yes, it will change the back pressure, yes that will change the speed of the turbos, yeah, it could void your warranty. but it's done all the time on turbo cars, usually with no ill effects.

I dont think people are going to be getting massive gains without swapping the turbos and anyone willing to do that knows they have no warranty so no big deal.

besides, you only need the warranty if something breaks.

so, when is someone going to go all in on one of these beasties? I wanna see how much power they can make before they break.

Yup yup I want to see what these things can push too safely, and I know it can be done without breaking anything!

But yeah changing out the cat's or deleting them out won't have any bad affects, just make sure that if your installing a straight pipe that you get it from a reputable company so it won't throw any CEL's but at the same time it won't be a guarantee.

Heck my 2009 turbo'd ralliart, had that all changed, and even tuned, plus on top of that i was having issues with the tune putting the vehicle in limp mode, but the dealership I went to check it all out to make sure it wasn't the PCM all under warranty, plus they were gonna warranty the PCM as long as I put the PCM back to stock and bring it back, no hassle.

Bottom line know your dealership, and make sure that they are good about aftermarket add ons, or even tuning, some don't care, and others won't give you the time of the day if they know you did mod.

I want minor to med gains, changing the exhaust to have the turbo spool quicker, and a tune would for sure waken the EB up, and have no issues

First off, thank you for the whole beating of the dead horse comment. It drives me nuts everytime someone talks about modding the eco, someone comes in and screams about voiding warranties.

I am extremely interested to see what the aftermarket community comes up with for this truck. I like the power of the eco, but I want more.
