Default ecoboost turbo failures

Not starting this thread to start another 5.0 vs eb pissing match go troll elsewhere. How many have actually had turbos fail. Mine is fine but my boss had a right side replaced. If mine craps out fullrace will be getting some money from me

What was the failure he had? Seal failures can be common with a million of them on the road. I have only personally saw 1 failure and it was a seal failure that allowed oil into the exhaust.

I had my driver's side turbo replaced under warranty. According to my local dealer it was leaking oil in the intake and had excessive play in the spool.

his was making very little boost, dealer told him it was a common problem with 2011 and parts were ordered. They said they were replacing turbo. It's not done yet and he's been out of town. I will find out exactly what they did when he gets truck back the week of thanksgiving. I was wondering what was so "common" about it. Mine is still good but I am rapidly aproaching 60k makes me think about what i am doing when warranty is up.

I had a left side oil return line replaced at the first service due to a seal leak, new seal did not work so replaced the line,,no problems so far and I have worked the hell out of them towing a 10k TT all summer. I have friends with them and no problems.

the K03 is a proven turbo, easily one of the most durable OE turbos out there, found on everything from mazdaspeeds to VW, Audis, and many more. Borg Warner makes about 400k of these turbos per year for their customers so there is always a small percentage that go bad prematurely but the warrranty will cover that. Of course if it isnt covered under warranty its also inexpensive and straight forward to service the bearing housing with a overhaul rebuild kit

Yeah, but that's not what is in your truck.

Only the 4 cylinder models use BW turbos.

The v6's use Garret GT15 turbos.

EDIT: Looks like what I had read in magazines and stuff was wrong, and they aren't Garret turbos. My bad.

Oh Lewis26.......

Steer clear of wikipedia for ecoboost info k?

If I remember correctly, Geoff works somewhat close with BW.
