ecoboost trademark belongs to whirlpool not Ford

From http://www.uspto.gov/...
Also, trademarks can be used by different companies when goods or services are so unrelated that confusion is unlikely. One is unlikely to confuse automobiles or automobile engines with washing machines...

With some of the comments I read on this site, I believe there are people out there that will have a hard time distinguishing between a truck engine, and a washer.

Ferrari wanted to call their 2011 Formula 1 car the "F150" in honor of the 150th anniversary of Italian unification. Ford said "F150 is our trademark in the automotive business". Ferrari said "how can anyone confuse a Formula 1 car with a truck?". Ford said "F150 is our trademark and were gonna sue". Ferrari renamed their F1 car "150° Italia" (the "°" makes this read "150th"). Ford dropped the suit.

You historians will remember that this is not the first time Ford and Ferrari have been at odds. Henry Ford II and Enzo Ferrari were working on a merger back in the early 1960's. Ferrari would have continued to be responsible for the racing cars while Ford would pick up manufacturing of the road cars. The negotiations were progressing well, but fell apart in the end. Henry II got mad and started the GT-40 program which resulted in a LeMans win. There's a good book on the whole story titled "Go Like Hell".

I bought a new ecoboost whirlpool a month after a new ecoboost F150.
They're awesome, both best in class payload and performance, and economical to boot.
What a team!
