ecoboost towing mpg.......
Just took my 7000lbs 31' camper for a test pull. I just used the tow/haul mode and got 6.6mpg on flat land at 65-70mph. That seemed a bit low to me. I got about 9 in my 2005 5.4. Anything I should do to get better mileage????

Its a fx4 super crew with 3200 miles on it. 3.73 gears. I was really hoping to get at least as good as my 2005.......Not to be I guess.

I read this article below and they also talk about the lower mpg for ecoboost. But they were towing up a grade also.

I recently towed a toy hauler to PA. weighing about 9k and got between 7-8 mpg. It towed and handled the trailer like a champ. The only thing I can think of as why the 5.4 got better mileage is because it could not go as fast? The guys trailer I was using said my lil V6 towed it better than his 2500 crewcab duramax.

Also be sure you're on premium fuel (91 octane) - 87 octane is fine for the Ecoboost when you're empty, but it really needs to be on premium if you're going to put it to work.
