EcoBoost towing 11,000lbs on a semi-daily basis?
I have my heart set on an EcoBoost with max tow. I weighed my setup at the scales today and the dump trailer with skid steer weighed in at 10,790lbs. I know the towing capacity is 11,300. BUT... is it a good idea to run close to max on a pretty regular basis? I dont care about fuel mileage while towing...it sucks with all trucks. I just want to know if anyone hauls near max on a regular basis or would your recommend against it. Am I destined for the Powerstroke side of life?
I went to the dealer and got two different answers. One of the dealers said that i can come by this week with my bobcat and trailer and hook up to his EcoBoost for the day to see how it handles. Im going to take him up on it but am looking for more thoughts.
Thank you.

I'd probably look into a powerstroke those things are made to tow on a daily bases and are meant to handle that amount of weight. Don't get my wrong the EB can pull a lot of weight, but I don't know how long it'll hold up on a daily basis. Also it's what ever you're more comfortable towing with. That's my $0.02

As much as i love my little 3.5L Eco and how impressed i am with how much it's able to tow. The thought of that much weight on a daily bases would definitely make me a Superduty Diesel owner...

I say, even though the EB is "rated" for 11k lbs, if you are going to be hauling that amount of weight daily, or close to it, you need to be doing it with a diesel, or at least a 3/4 ton truck IMO.

The only person that I know that has real world experience towing that much on a regular basis with his EB is Mike at 5 Star, but he has the HD payload package with the 7 lug axles along the max tow. I know for a fact my non max tow 3.55 rear ratio EB can handle 8,500lbs(the most I've towed with my truck) really well with no problems stock and A LOT better tuned. If you have any questions about it then I would just call Mike ( http://www.5startuning.com/ ) since he can tell you from experience and not opinion like most others.

HD with max tow is effectively a 3/4 ton, isn't it?
Lots bought 3/4's to tow that kind of weight on a regular basis. I don't see the need for a super duty unless going over.
I'm sure Al's 3:55 would tow 8500 daily and my 3:31 would tow the 8200 daily. Why couldn't the 11300 rated truck do it daily? Ford doesn't say it'll tow 11300 but only once a week for 200 miles.

So is that including the tongue weight or just the trailer axles? If it is the total and you don't do this on a regular basis, and you have a properly adjusted W/D hitch or gooseneck, I'd say go for it. If it's every week, no way. Get a SD.
