I think the magic words are probably "erratic idle". If you have/describe erratic idle and the dealership won't reflash, I bet a call to Ford Customer Service would get that taken care of...

But yup, it sounds like your dealer isn't very helpful. Dealerships make a good portion of their revenue from warranty service, usually more than from new car sales, so a call to the dealership owner or GM expressing your displeasure in the service department might also help.

Or just go to a new dealership. Must be more than a half dozen in that area.

It doesn't do a thing for the erratic idle though - it still snorts and misses. All it really seems to do is clean up the smoke, and I'm not even 100% sure about that.

Other "magic words" to get the PCM reflashed -

If you have a 5.0 -
"My truck doesn't slow down fast enough when I let off the gas" - TSB 11-8-9

5.0 or 3.7 -
"It's hard to start my truck when it's cold out and I'm running on E-85" - TSB 11-7-20 - the text of the TSB includes the idle stability correction for the 3.5, but it's not in the symptom so the dealer may not be willing to flash for this

All engines - (build date before 03/21/2011)
"My traction control keeps coming on for no reason when i'm driving through parking lots with my trailer" (TSB 11-4-7)
