Ecoboost rattling noise when start up

I was anticipating several thousand...but better than a new engine. I am going to ask the dealer what they think. They already got me about $1500 in 4x4 repairs covered for me outside of warranty so I highly doubt there will be any help with this one...especially now that I am even further out of warranty haha

Hi Crystal,
Where can I talk to a rep outside of the dealership? I took my 2012 F-150 Ecoboost into the dealer before my warranty ran out and they assured me this noise isn't hurting the vehicle and that Ford has recognized the sound with the statement that it won't cause any mechanical problems and will let them know when a repair of the noise is released. I'd like to confirm this diagnosis and make sure the issue isn't major.

Ah- except for initial start up when cold and having a light rattle for a second or less you will be foxed sooner than later if the oil gets diluted it has little lub value until hot and dilution vapors out thru the pvc or CAC.

timing chain rattle - SECOND time's a charm
Can you (or any other Ford Service rep) please contact me regarding this? I'm having to undergo this situation for the second time, after having the TSB 15-0131 already performed approximately 25k miles ago, and have been informed that the warranty for that service (2.5 years) has expired and the 6year/100k extended warranty has also expired... Needless to say, I'm more than a little disappointed in the current situation...

Here is hoping Ford Motor Co. comes thru for you ! (1.) is obvious you have a lubrication problem from day one ! (2.) Ford should have set a new motor in and sent you on your way carefree. (3.) Ur timing chain isn't getting the lubrication it needs, which comes back to the lubrication system, main bearing clearance and other unspecified problems here. (4.)

For anyone interested, it appears there's a new TSB for the repair. TSB 18-2305
Not sure what's different as I havent looked over the list but just passing along information

I have a 2014 F150 with the cold start rattle. Doesn't do it every time so I recorded 3 different starts on my phone. Went to the dealer today and played the video and the service writer said it was a timing chain problem. I told him the truck was under CPO warranty (76000 miles). He said they have to hear it personally. So the recording was good enough to diagnose a non-warranty repair, but not good enough for warranty work. I left it there for them to cold start and hopefully hear the noise. The service writer then attempted to sell me an oil change because "the extended warranty is probably after-market (it isn't) and doesn't include new oil. The mechanic saves the old oil and puts it back in the engine when the repair is done"!!! I told him to look at the parts list on TSB 18-2305. It clearly shows 6 qts of synthetic blend oil.
Has anyone had any luck with a recording of the cold start rattle as verification? I live 1 hour away from the dealer and it is very inconvenient to drop off and pick up.
