Give it some more time. The motors are pretty tight when new. I know mine really opened up and mpg increased around 8k miles or so. But even new my milage wasn't that low. What configuration is your truck? 2wd/4wd? Crewcab? Gear ratio is a big one as well. I have 3.55s and highway is really good. If you have 3.73 or 4.10s and 4wd i can see that the case

The truck is a 4wd, with 3.31 gears.
As for a break in period. Seriously, 8000 to 10000 miles
This is an urban legend. Who from Ford has said this??
How about the Ford rep chiming in on this??
