Default Oil Sludge in Ecoboost

A friend of mine sent me this and asked me to post.

He has a 2013 F150 Ecoboost that he got in to go to work started and he said it was knocking like a diesel. He got out and checked the oil and there was no oil on the dipstick? He does his own oil changes and had done it 3000 miles ago with 6 qts of Mobile one synthetic. He crawled under the truck nothing looked out of the ordinary so he decided to change the oil. When he pulled the plug this is what came out of the oil...

This is Mobile one with 3000 miles on it! After the oil change it ran fine. He ran for a bit and changed it again. He has CEL for a bad crank sensor. What would cause this? It didnt seem to have metal in it or water in the oil. Just this sludge. Im at a bit of a loss what would cause it.

Has he ran Mobil 1 before? He should do an oil analysis to see if any damage has been done.

That oil is going somewhere.

That looks like what happens if you don't change the oil for a very long time. See it all the time at work on our fleet vehicles which run 15-40 (not recommended) and they run 24/7 idling for many of the 24 hours...

Since you say he changes it himself, I have no idea. Keep us updated!

Yuck! Did he check to see if it had a filter in the airbox? I've never seen anything that thick. I can't think of anything else that could get the oil that contaminated. How many miles are on the truck? How long has he owned it? Was this his first oil change on it?

truck has just over 40k miles on it. He said this oil had 3000 miles on it.

Currently he has a cel that says its a bad pcv valve... we are at loss. Its running fine after cleaning it out and doing 2 oil changes. He is taking it to the dealer tomorrow.

It almost looks like someone sabotaged his oil. Did he put an additive in it? Does he have an enemy that put sugar in his oil?
