I agree 100%.

IMHO there is not much to gain with a CAI on "stock" truck. If the stock air box and filter flow enough air there is no benefit to opening it up. In fact it can be detrimental in some cases because the engine is tuned to the air-box, and there are factors such as resonance that come into play. I also do not see big cold air benefit if the case of the ecoboost because of the large inter-cooler, the air coming out is going to be pretty much the same temperature whether or not it varies by by a few degrees going in.

Sorry for getting off topic.

Don t want to argue the times, but were there any variables in testing, back to back, differnt days, weather, cooldown, traction, launch. Seems like a stout drop in times just for a cold air filter. But all in all runs really well stock and modified

Your time is really just an indication of how well you got out of the hole.

The real question is what was the mph difference stock vs cold air intake?

Really good thread guys.......... good info.

These trucks are the new GMC Syclone of old!

14.59 @ 92.6mph. Stock 2011 FX4. Wasn't paying much attention to the tree while practicing a good 2wd launch. Never tried 4x4.
I recently did the E locker mod. Interested to see if that will help out of the hole.

Thanks, just left it in D. Advance track and TC off.
Launched at 18-2k. Anything higher resulted in one tire fryer. Tires were at 36lbs.

If you drop the air pressure to 20-25lbs you'll see big improvement in how well you hook up.

I will try that next time. Forgot to take my tank with me.

Has anyone had any luck launching above 2 k in a 2012 or a 2011 with the locker mod? What RPM does the converter finally stall?
