Default Coil Pack Problem

The coil burning out seems to be a running theme with the Ecoboost. 3 coil packs out? I would take a look at the Lemon Laws...you have a valid complaint...of course you may get the same problem with a new ecoboost.

Default Ecoboost Misfire/ engine light flash/ power loss

Ford knows they have an issue with the Ecoboost ignition/control system. It's not bad gas, or water.
I've had mine in twice and it still does it, first time they changed a coil on #5 "I was told", second time I was told Ford Engineers know the problem, nothing they could do, it was relate3d to rain/moisture. I contacted FORD, they wrote back and said to take it back to the dealer I purchased it at, I did that the second time. What don't they under stand?

It is a big deal when you pull out around a semi-truck at 50 mph and have the damm thing fall on it's face half way into a pass! It's a safety issue too.
Leave a lot of time to pass, that "power" may not be there when you need it most!

My cyl #5 coil went out as well... Guess there was bound to be some problem with this truck eventually... Still wouldn't trade it for anything else though.

My coil #3 went out while passing a slow moving truck on the New York State Thruway towing a 30' camp trailer. I was real lucky to fall back and pull over safely. They towed truck and trailer 30 miles to a Ford dealer that night where I spent the night in the camper. Fixed the next day but this is a safety issue. What about the other 5?

I found this at another forum:

I work for a Ford Dealership in Grande Prairie, AB and we are having a lot of issues with spark plugs and coils that cause this very problem. The plugs are getting cracked in the porcelain in the same spot on all of them about 10mm in length. We are not sure if the coils are causing the plugs to crack or the cracked plugs are burning out the coils since there has not been any official info released on the matter. Ford has an updated plug. The original is an SP.528 and the updated one is SP.534.
The first time I encountered this we ended up replacing a total of 13 spark plugs and 7 coils under warranty just to figure out that we needed to replace all coils and plugs. At that point the updated plugs were not available in Canada. That was the most extreme case so far. Since then, we have been using the updated plugs, replacing one or two at a time and there have been little to no combacks as of yet
