Default Crank Shaft Sensor...they think!

UPDATE: After my vehicle had been towed to the nearest Ford Dealership in Westbrook ME, they believe it is the crank shaft position sensor that failed. They will not have the part in until Monday, and because they have not done any major work on an Ecoboost they could not tell me an estimated time of repair. They did say they will have to remove all of the ducting, turbos and anything else that may be in the way to get to that sensor! The dealer where I bought the truck (Portsmouth NH) put me in an Enterprise Rental, but made no mention of making this right.
It's my opinion that I bought a new truck, not a faulty repaired truck, I would like to drive away with a new truck. Is that asking too much?

not asking too much.,... but...

I would think it would be near impossible to get a dealership to put you in a new truck. Outside of 3 days, it probably never happens until you can get a state lemon law involved with a lawyer and whatnot. Hopefully they'll fix your engine up like new and you will be good to go. Hang in there and hope for the best. With luck, you have a good dealership that will take care of this honorably.

I agree with you 100%, very least give you a truck off the lot to drive till yours is fixed. Removing turbos to replace a crankshaft sensor, what's up with that!?!? I wonder how it would cost out of warranty.

Got the truck back this afternoon. I feel better after I had the mechanic walk me through his repair and his confidence that it was only the sensor that caused that issue. I noted they drove it about 20 miles to make sure, and I put on 120 miles this evening as well. It may take me a while to have confidence in my truck again, but it sure is nice just driving it around, because I can! Now back to the business of the inter-cooler opening...the mechanic stated that Ford does not want to see any restrictions in air flow, and they can void the warranty if they deem that it was due to an after market add on i.e. Bull Bars, or a small insert grill.

Glad you got your truck back! Was it the crank sensor that went? Seems like this engine is at it's limits (at least by Fords standards) I mean seriously an insert grill impeding air flow? How about that hole being plugged with snow or the IC being caked with mud??

Ford is being contradictory, they don't want us to impede air flow, but they also will not repair under warranty if the inter-cooler is physically damaged!

I've purchased an insert grill on Amazon (expect to have it in a short while), but I will make certain that it is easily removable so I can take it off when I bring the truck in for Service/Repair. I am going to forgo the Westin Bull Bar however...if anyone is looking for a Chrome Bull bar I've got one to sell, just look at my Garage Photos. I'm not sure if it was a shame or a blessing that my truck had a failed Crank Shaft Sensor so early on; the shame is I am hesitant do perform any upgrades that could potentially void my warranty, the blessing is that I am going to upgrade cautiously to avoid any potential vehicle/manufacturer issues.

The best thing for the Ecoboost would be having the front of an F-250 - a vehicle designed from the ground up for a turbocharged engine rather than a vehicle with a turbocharger added to it. The next F-150 generation (if it still sports a turbocharged engine, it probably will), will most likely have a wider, taller grille so the CAC can be in the traditional location in front of the radiator.

I wonder if the warranty will cover Pidgeon removal...
