2013 f150 ecoboost 4x4 crew cab xlt, 3rd engine is being put in right now, covered by warranty. First (oem) engine developed a loud knock at 49k miles, the replacement engine developed a faint knocking sound at 55k miles on truck, dealership pulled oil filter and found large amounts of metal in the filter.

2011 EB with about 45,000 km on it - serviced only at ford - had a service plan and extended warranty - started getting check engine light one day - took it in - dealer thought it might be Phasers - went to take front cover off - noticed metal in oil - pulled cam covers - bearings all scored - pulled crank covers - bearings all scored - 3 weeks later - remanufactured short block installed - runs like a charm - bill to ford $10,841 - bill to me $0 - reason for scoring - unknown.

So with no more than F-ing 100 miles on this new engine (3rd engine) truck started making a dull knocking/thumping sound.
Truck has been back at the dealership since, going on 4 weeks this next week.
The dealership had an engineer come out "supposedly" and had them pull transmission to see if knocking went away, it did not go away.
Now they are freaking talking about putting in yet another new engine so engine #4!!! This will be 3 engines within a years time.
This crap is beyond getting old. I'm almost 90% sure this new engine will start knocking eventually. I really think something is getting missed each time that's the actual cause of these engine failures.
By the way, two of the engine replacements were each done by totally different dealerships/service departments.

I really have pretty much lost faith in dealership service tech/"mechanics" they really are nothing but parts changers.

Dealership is now pulling the transmission pan to look for metal, if they find metal they will replace transmission, if they don't find metal they will just replace the torque converter then go from there

About to go on engine #4!?
Man,trade that thing and happily move on.
Life is way too short and these trucks cost way too much money to be dragging yourself through that....
JMHO.

They ended up just replacing the torque converter and supposedly sound went away.... Time will tell.

So when I got truck home from dealership I decided to pop the hood to look around and fricking found this crap!
Could not believe it!
I cleaned it all out and the damn rat that built it chewed on my hpfp hose a little.
Truck goes back Monday morning and they're going to replace the hose and possibly pull transmission again since I have a slight Trans fluid weep/leak where the bell housing meets engine now.

No quality control what so ever... Obviously my truck mostly sat in the 4 weeks it was at the dealership
