I had a thread started on mine that can be found by searching...I had a problem with mine where a seal failed which caused cylinder 1 to missfire. That resulted in gouging in cylinder 1 and scrap metal everywhere. After having the truck for two weeks Ford decided to just replace the long block. Took a week to replace the engine and I finally received the truck back. So far I only have 150+ miles on the new engine but it is not driving the same as before. I plan to drive it to around 2,000 miles and change the oil and see what happens. If my truck continues the path it is down I will be getting rid of it before the end of the year.

Mine blew a few weeks ago. Getting on the interstate rushing to the hospital, i stood on the throttle and about 40-50 mph there was a loud bang and the truck immediately died. Oil all over the bottom of the truck and highway. The truck had absolutely no issues prior to this and i was a very happy owner.

Ford is currently replacing it with a long block, i had 55k on the odometer, so i just barley made the warranty. I'm hoping that i can get an extended one or something. I got to see the motor after they pulled it, and there was hole on the block between cylinders 4-5. Not sure exactly which one it was. They had to pull the trans to get the motor out since they couldnt rotate the motor and get the torque converter bolts out. I hope they flush the trans and service it while they have it out.

I have towed a lot with it in the 50k i drove it, the truck had 5k on it when i bought it. It has always performed great. I'm not going to lie, I'm nervous about my second motor.

My Chevy!
I have an 89 with a 350 always took care of it. Motor blew at 97k mi.
I thought that since it that motor was made for many yrs it should last. WRONG!
I had to pay for a new motor. From day one it had low oil pressure at idle. When I took it to dealer they said it was normal and would never did anything about it.
I got a new crate motor and the oil pressure was never below 45 psi.
Needless to say after that I never bought and never will buy another GM.

Man I've told all kinds of poeple how I love the ecoboost engine. Three of them actually bought one because of it. Well they won't be happy to hear this story
Last weekend I took my maintenance records to the dealer to sent in to Ford. Well Ford Canada had told the dealer to take apart the engine and take photographs. Dealer got me a rental and also paid for the $1200 bill to take apart the engine. There is defenitly a hole in the block, piston 2 is dead. Keeping my fingers crossed, dealer is thinking it should be covered under warranty because of the major failure. I hope they are right. New engine $15,000 installed!

Well, I am getting a new engine. Will cost me $8000 CND installed. Ford and the dealer I took it to are paying the balance. The dealer I bought the truck from doesn't want to help at all. Really disappointing to say the least. Anyway it could have been worse, I'm still not impressed that the engine blew but you gotta move on. If your in Alberta and want to know who helped me and who didn't PM me.

glad you got it sorted out.

I've gotta say, looking back on it, I'm really happy my dealer took care of me and my blown engine the way they did. it took two days for them to inspect the blown engine and approve a new longblock, and when I told them I did not want a remanufactured engine, he called me back 30 minutes later saying there was a brand new one getting pulled off the assembly line that would be on a truck tomorrow. it still ended up being a time-consuming project because it was the first time that tech had swapped an Ecoboost, but the dealer did everything they could do to move along as quickly as possible - could have been because I was driving one of their brand new 2015 F150s the whole time

Since you had time in the 15, could you give a pros and cons assessment of the two trucks. Did it pain you to give up the 15 to go back to your truck?

well first of all - my truck is a 2014 King Ranch 157" wheelbase with luxury package, max tow, 3.73 gears, every option available. the truck I was in was a 2015 XLT supercrew 5.5' bed with cloth seats, front bench, and very few options. it had power windows/locks and SYNC and I think that was pretty much it. it was also a 3.5L Ecoboost with 4 wheel drive and had 3.31 gear and an open diff. so, they're really not very comparable just because of the major differences between the two trim levels.

with that said, I think the 2015 did have a very comfortable ride and seating position. it was quiet and rode well. I can't say it necessarily rode any better than my 2014 did when it was stock, but definitely better than it does now with a level and larger tires. I was seeing 22mpg with it at 75-77mph when I first drove it home, and at that time it only had about 30 miles on the odometer. when I went to return it, I hand-calculated as I filled up and had been averaging over 18mpg with about a 50/50 mix of city and highway driving. lifetime average on my truck is 14.1 so I was pretty impressed with that. that's really about all I have to say, since I was just happy to get back to my tinted windows and heated seats. I wouldn't mind a 2015 in the future but I still can't believe the massive hike the prices took.

2011 Ecoboost with 87k miles. cracked piston skirt, luckily i have fords esp warranty. They are putting in a brand short block all covered under warranty. Should be getting it back next week.

Seems like these issues are popping up more and more. I won't be owning this truck without a warranty.
