Good luck on your truck

My experience.

I've owned 7 vehicles in my life. Five Toyotas, one Nissan, and my f150. So far, my experience has been,

Ford has held up the best and been the most reliable. Also seems to have the best build quality of the bunch. Especially after 7 years now.

The others were about equal, including one tundra.

I believe when you build ten times more of something. Chances are you will build more lemons. Unfortunately it sounds like you got one.

Just installed one of those super-chips in my 2013 ecoboost today. Already see much improvement in the power dept. Have already driven 70 miles so far and see a 1.8 mph improvement in fuel economy so far. Will let you know after I have gone through a full tank about improvement in that department.

You may be right about the trucks as far as building 10 times as many. However, on a global scale, Toyota is just as relevant as Ford or any other company when it comes to total vehicles produced. If you look at the number of recalls due to significant safety issues over the last 10 years, Toyota and Honda have only had a fraction of the issues that the American companies have had. Data and statistics all indicate that the long-term quality and reliability of Honda/Acura and Toyota/Lexus far surpass those of Ford/Lincoln, Chevrolet/Cadillac/Buick, and the Chrysler brands.

I do not want to start a brand war on an MPG thread, but the Japanese brands are the only ones I feel loyal to anymore, as they are the only ones who have produced vehicles that haven't let me or my family down once they have gotten some miles on them. Some of the things that people consider as "normal" problems for high mileage vehicles just don't happen to Toyotas and Hondas on the scale that they do to the domestic brands. Good luck to everyone, and, again, I hope the blue oval is kinder to you and your families than it has been to me and my family.

Those with the RX system installed, what are you seeing for MPG increases?

Is your "Superchip" different than a 'tuner'? Which did you choose? Please keep us informed of your experience.

The Superchips is a brand of a tuner and is a part of Edge products. They are basically canned tunes that you cannot customize to your own taste with things like shift points and throttle input. I had the Superchips when they first came out but changed over to SCT due to the high catalyst temps the Superchips had and the fact that you do not have customizable tunes. The canned SCT tunes that come preloaded to the SCT tuner are also more powerful than the Superchips as well.

I wouldn't mind a tune that increases my MPG.

The power is far more than I need (I originally bought the truck to work it but now it gets a lot lighter duty than planned)

In the last 6 months, the truck has almost gotten me run over twice due to misfires/CAC condensation that has not been adequately addressed. Also, I have been very nice to the truck since I have owned it, and the mileage has severely dwindled in the last 7500 miles. Since it hit 30,000, when I was averaging around 18-19 mpg, it had fallen all the way to 14-15 mpg average with the same driving patterns/habits/fuel (premium only). I had a 2007 King Ranch that was a total turd, and, while I loved my Eco when I first got it, it quickly soured over the course of the last 8 months (3 major misfires issues, 2 cats, 1 "deflector plate", SYNC system refusing to connect to bluetooth phones, just to name the most annoying). This will be my last Ford. Everyone in my family, many of whom work at KTP in Louisville, KY, are even upset with the quality of their Ford vehicles, and are seriously considering moving to Honda or Toyota. As long as Toyota continues to make a full-size truck, they will get my money. Built in America, by Americans, with American parts is good enough for me. The "Ts" all over it makes me feel better about the long-term prospect of keeping the truck, which was the previous plan with the Eco, but S*** happens! Good luck to all of you guys, and I sincerely hope all of you continue to have better luck than my family and I have had with our trucks and cars from the Blue Oval.

If you aren't trying to turn this into a brand war, then why did you post this in the first place?

This post has little to do with fuel economy and more to do with bashing your previous truck.

I feel the same. I like the way that the truck drives; it has all the power I need. Better fuel economy when I don't need the power is what I really want. I did see 10.7 l/100 km today instead of the usual 14.2.

Has anybody found a tuner or other solution that improved the mileage closer to EPA.
