Even more confirmation...

I had contacted O'Reilly about this issue and that the 2011 F150 FX2 doesn't have the 3.5 available as an option on their website. Apparently the database O'Reilly and their suppliers subscribe to is screwed up. So select Lariat, King Ranch or Platinum for now if you have an FX2.

Anyways, this is the notification O'Reilly received today from Motorcraft:

Interesting. Your info was correct as hard as it was to believe. Interesting the bulletin states fitment issue for the reason.

I wonder who has the real story. Champ Labs or Ford? I think either explanations are plausible, but this may be Ford trying to cover up an embarrassing mistake.

It may have to do with the tight fit and room to install it. So now we may have to do with a filter with less filter capacity.

Parts guy told me the Motorcraft guy came and picked up all the 2055's yesterday. I was the only guy they sold one to. Probably just leave it on till next change. It looks like it just misses the cooling lines going into the filter mount.
