When I checked into Dyson along time ago they were a lot more expensive than Blackstone, I usually pay the extra for the TBN from Blackstone.

Terry is definitely pricey, that is why I only used his service for the first UOA and went with Blackstone afterwards. I am a cheap bastard!!

After reading this thread, I went ahead and bought a new 2055 filter and change my oil today. I only have 700 miles on it but wanted the pease of mind knowing I have fresh clean oil in my Ecoboost. I was suprised to see that my truck, which was built on March 10, still had the old smaller filter on it. I wonder at what date they will begin installing the fl 2055 at the factorry? Seeing this made me even happier I went ahead and changed the oil/filter. Now I know I have the proper protection. I guess Ford does not think the filter change is a big enough deal to do the change ASAP? For those of you with Ecoboost, are you going to wait until your first scheduled oil change to get the upgraded filter and protection? Anyway, I love this truck and motor so much I wanted to take the matter in my own hands. I'm glad I did and now have the proper filter on my rig.

Glad to hear you changed the oil yourself. There is a thread on this forum about how to change the engine oil on the Ecoboost - you may want to post over there explaining how it was done and (hopefully!) any pictures also! Thanks!

Default My dealer got the FL2055 for me.

Purchased an ecoboost a couple of weeks ago. First and only one my dealer has sold so far. Had to locate it out of state for me.

Went in to my dealer, Kevin Powell's Foothill Ford, in Pilot Mountain, NC yesterday to check and see how long it would take to get the new filters.

Service manager plopped one on the counter and said "we knew you'd be in and ordered it for you."

Thats' why I like my hometown country dealer. No fancy chairs, no expensive sound system and no Starbucks in the waiting area, they just get it done.

Hi guys. We just picked up our EcoBoost F-150 this week and love it.

Regarding the oil filter, I contacted Royal Purple to see if they will be offering an oil filter for the FL2055. Champ Labs manufactures Royal Purple, K&N and bunch of other oil filter brands. The person at Royal Purple contacted Champ Labs about this is his response:

"We are aware of the change that Ford made, but just recently we were informed by Ford that they are changing the spec back to the FL-500-S filter. They originally thought there were issues in the testing, but later found out that there was some injection system problems in their testing and that has all been rectified and they will be changing the spec back to the FL-500-S filter. We currently do not have the bulletin from Ford, all we have now is the Ford bulletin that introduces the FL2055 part number. You can continue to check back with me and when we get this bulletin I will be glad to forward it to you. If you have any other questions, just let me know. So if any of the Ford F-150 3.5 Turbos come in they can use the 20-500 filter."
It looks like it's not a big deal and I bet Champ Labs, which makes like 80% of the world's oil filters, probably won't even begin making the FL-2055 oil filter any time soon.

I would be interested to see the comparison between the Royal Purple's innards and the Motorcraft FL-2055's innards since both filters use a synthetic medium, while everyone else uses paper. Thankfully O'Reilly sells the FL-2055 for $8 and not the $22 you'll pay at the dealer, but I'm going to go with the Royal Purple filter.

I did the same thing at 700 for the same reasons as you plus plus it was free! My dealer just got them in and told me mine was the first to get one. I also went with the MC 5W30 SB as recommended. The Ford Quick Lane guys said to follow the Oil Life Monitor for my next oil change but they still put a sticker on my windshield written next oil change due @ 5700 miles.

Default Oil filter online

Haven't changed it yet. Thinking the (6) $19.99 oil change vouchers from the dealer might just be worth it. I also have first change free. I figure $14 for filter, 6qts @ a sale of $3ea = $32 total change! Might make sense to let the dealer do it for that price! I've only had my only changed by someone else once in my life!

FL2055 = $13.89 from fordparts.com
