Ecoboost Oil Filter announcement
To:All Ford and Lincoln Dealers
Subject:EFC00063DC New Part Number FL2055, 2011 F-150 3.5L Ecoboost Oil Filter
INTRODUCING THE FL2055
Motorcraft is pleased to announce the availability of the FL2055. This all new oil filter is the service filter for the 2011 model year F-150, 3.5L Ecoboost engine.
All 2011 F-150 trucks equipped with a 3.5L Ecoboost engine were produced with a small diameter (77mm/3 inch) oil filter. The service replacement oil filter, the FL2055, is a larger diameter (94mm/3.75inch) filter. The FL2055 has significantly higher filtration efficiency and capacity than most other oil filters and is designed for added engine protection and long life. For proper engine maintenance, a FL2055 oil filter or an equivalent filter meeting Ford material and design specifications must be used.
If a replacement oil filter is installed that does not meet Ford specifications, engine damage may occur which may not be eligible for warranty coverage. The oil capacity for the 3.5L V6 Ecoboost engine with the FL2055 oil filter is 6.2 quarts (5.9L).
Figured I better post this before anyone wonders why the filter that came off is different than the one going back on

Good info. Thanks!
Now if people will just believe the computer when it state when it is time to change the oil, people will see some significant savings.

Could the FL2055 be used on any application that recommends the FL-500S? Just curious since the owners guide shows the 3.7, 3.5, & 5.0 use the FL-500S.

Are these filters going to be a dealer item only...or will they be available through various parts stores?
Something that I have been casually looking around for is the filter wrench of motorcraft filters....been to NAPA and O'Reilly and got the "deer in the headlight" look when I inquired about a filter wrench or Motorcraft oil filters......any suggestions?
Although our new rig hasn't arrived yet, I'm thinking ahead....on the EB, an oil change might be the only thing I'm capable of doing to it!

I would assume so at this time, because dealers can't even get the new filter for a couple more weeks. It usually takes the aftermarket about a year to make their branded filters however if there is a patent issue involved, then the aftermarket filters may in fact potentially void your warranty.
Just look at the issues with the 6.0L diesel and the aftermarket filters

I just called the Ford dealer and they quoted me @ $20.43 for ONES of these filters!? I asked them to cross check a second time to confirm. Yes, it appears we will be paying a serious amount of dough every time we change the oil. I've never paid more than $14 for a oil filter - and that was for a Ducati motorcycle.
