Ecoboost oil analysis
My truck is a 2013 FX4 crew 6.5' with 3.55 rear end.
Purchased brand new dec 2013. Original oil changed at approx 5000km, then drove approx. 13,000km on the motorcraft oil. Sent in a sample of oil to "wearchek" (Canada's version of blackstone).
I noticed a gas smell during the winter when I checked my oil but the dipstick didn't show anything higher than the usual oil level.
I am concerned. What do you think?

Dirt could have been introduced during the sampling. The fuel is another issue and you should talk to your dealer about it. I would go with the equivalent of 5,000 mile oil changes and analyze each time to see if there is a trend.

What is interesting to note is the "wear" levels at the bottom, indicating the component levels to be wearing at "normal" rates...

I rule out dirt as I filled the sample container straight from the oil as it was draining. I will be changing the oil at 5000KM and sending another sample to see how the numbers change. I will also install a fumoto valve to make it easier to sample whenever I want. 7.5% fuel dilution is quite high. To think, the truck computer still indicated the oil still had 25% life left in it at the time I changed it!!! I have always wondered how accurate an "oil life monitoring" system could be without physically sampling the oil. The manual indicates my driving conditions should yield approx 16,000KM before the oil should be replaced!

the dealer is just going to tell you the fuel is normal. its fords official stance. i saw high fuel dilution in the winter months as well.

I'd have the dealer check the HPFP. There have been some issues with these, and I think more prone on the 2013's.
How's your fuel mileage? That can be an indication.

That is probably the bane of this engine: fuel dilution of the oil coupled with soot contamination. Go to www.gf-6.com and see what I mean. As a result I am using an A3 rated oil in my EB truck (Castrol 0w-40) on short oil change intervals - 4k miles tops.
