Default EcoBoost MPG since other MPG threads are off topic

I have a newer model 2013 FX2 ecoboost SuperCrew 5.5 bed, 3:31, factory 20's with 1,800 miles and I have been getting about 15.8MPG (17.8 once dont know how) and was wondering if it will get better? The on board computer is a joke, says im getting 17-20 and using 22 gallons when im putting in 25 gallon. Dont get me wrong I love the truck and 16mpg is still better then my 05 5.4 was

Seems rather low for. 2wd and hwy gears. Are you heavy with the right foot! What did your 5.4 get?

my 5.4 had 3.55s and was getting about 15.5mpg combine hwy/city with chip intake exhaust and bigger wheels. As far as my ecoboost I do 70-75 on highway and I'm pretty light on the gas in city, maybe go alittle heavy 5 times a tank just to pass someone but never on it for more then a few seconds. I didnt know if maybe the 20's had something to do with it or maybe a break in period or even gas station cause I just filled up at a Chevron and im at 260miles with half tank still remaining on a 26gallon tank and previous 3 fill ups were at sunoco (93 octane)

I can tell you that once my truck EB hit 3k the mileage started to improve..i went from 15 to 17 in summer and didn't change driving style..went back down to 16 for winter fuel but I think the engine just needs to get broken in,, wait until you get 5k to evaluate your MPG's..

Ok well that info helps. I also did 15ish with my screw 5.4 4x4. I now get 17 mixed in winter and 19/20 mixed in summer on my Eco screw 4x4 3.55 gears. I have 18" wheels. I had good mpg from start. But I guess it did creep up 1-2 mpg over the first 5-10k miles.

Also my computer is very accurate. Within .2 mpg and about same on fill ups.

I'm hoping for 18mpg mix. I have a co-worker with a 2012 4x4 supercrew 5.0 and he claims to get 18mpg. I wanted a 5.0 but am really happy with my ECO so far, my payment from a 401a - 402a package with eco n 20's for $7 more a month was a no brainier

Summertime you should hit your 18 combined. Like I said my mpg difference is around 3 mpg summer v winter. My 5.4 didn't fluctuate as much. The Eco gets the best mpg with light throttle and easily bests the 5.0. BUT it is also more sensitive to throttle inputs, towing and cold.

Stick with a single octane level. I experimented with 89 and 92 octane for a couple months in my '12 Ecoboost and what I noticed was any change in octane resulted in a mileage reduction for quite a while and 92 octane got worse mileage than 87, even after a month of running it. The computer adapts to octane changes, but not quickly, so if you're changing every tank it throws it off.

I'm on my 3rd tank of 93 octane, first 2 were 87. I know the truck doesn't need 93octane but I feel being a twin turbo engine it should like the premium fuel. For $8 more a tank I'm happy if the truck is happy
