I feel for all of you, I do. But as of November 2012, there were 500,000 EcoBoost motors on the road. The ratio of failures has got to be low. Low enough that the recall rule (you remember fight club, right? If settlements cost less than a recall, they don't do one) applies. My guess is, they are not gonna (****, we know they aren't) make it easy, though. I hope you guys with bum motors keep up the fight and get what's coming to you from Ford.

Damn it appears as though this "engine" (if you can even call it that) is a deathtrap
Explain how it's a death trap.

It's actually pretty scary when you're trying to pass on a single lane highway and the whole loss of power under acceleration thing happens.

Have you ever seen a person barely make it back into their lane? Now imagine they have a mechanical failure. Death trap probably isn't the best description though.

As of August 2012, Ford sold its 200,000th F150 Ecoboost. I assume the number you're using is total Ecoboosts throughout the Ford lineup, which spans over many engines and designs. I know in my area, dealers are very familiar with the Intercooler issue. I would think some climates have 0-1% rate of issues, and others could be in the 7-10% range. The overall average probably sits close to 5%, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was a tad lower, or a tad higher.

Also, I'm sure Ford has seen fewer issues as they've been applying TSB's, which shows Ford has been making progress on the issue. If they would just give the owners who experienced issues something to show they stand behind their product, there would be fewer of these lawsuits. Even a 1yr/12k mile extended warranty on powertrain to put a customer's mind at ease would go a long way.

I've seen plenty of drivers make passes such as this when there was not adequate room. Need to be just a little more patient and wait for the proper place to pass safely. Whatever vehicle is being driven there is always a possibility of some type of failure that may slow it down - so, be safe not sorry..
I have a 2010 Taurus SHO with 30,000 miles. No such issue so far with the power loss. Great car with many fine features.

What I find interesting here is that one of the plaintiffs (two but they are a couple and it's one vehicle) have a Taurus. I think a lot of us (or maybe that it just me) had assumed the issue was isolated to the F150 iteration of the EB.

I don't think this is a very common issue but I do think it is an issue that Ford needs to correct. And when they do find a solution, I expect it will be issued as a TSB, not a recall.

If they are barely making it back into their lane, they shouldn't have attempted the pass in the first place.

I'm not condoning people who drive like idiots.

I'm saying when you pull out to pass its scary when the power cuts. We've all seen people make ill timed passes and that's what I liken it to. It's scary in the vehicle and its a scary thing to watch.

I'm of the opinion that if a consumer is having these issues ford should take care of them right away. The bad press is going to cost more than making a few customers happy.

This loss of power issue has happened to me on 5 separate occasions. All instances were towing my boat, and 4 of them were going over fairly large bridges. One of the instances was passing a slow truck on a 2 lane highway while a tanker truck followed me in the pass. I lost power beside the slow truck and the tanker truck passed me in the oncoming breakdown lane. All 5 situations were dangerous in my opinion.

The common denominators: Towing my boat, early morning(dark), accelerating and either light rain or very high humidity.

Just got it out of the shop last week after they replaced the intake and catalytic converter. We'll see if that helps.

I agree completely. Thing is, I am not convinced that they have a real fix yet...

I also do not think it would deter me from buying an EB.
