Default Ecoboost Intake, I'm going to make one soon..

Since there doesn't appear to be anything coming out soon I have decided to make my own intake. Gonna use an Amsoil cone filter and try to place it in the stock location. I haven't looked too much but it appears as though I will have to make a bracket to hold the coolant bottle in place and a place for the MAF sensor to screw into? Last time I looked it appeared as though the stock air filter box was somehow connected to the coolant bottle but I will have to look again.

Any tips guys? I would imagine someone had to have done this already...

I know it is fun to do these sort of things but the benefit vs cost/time is probably too high. First off, it could/might void your engine warranty. The biggest reason I would not do it 1) the GT15 turbos we have are good for only about 200hp each...we are already at 365 (182.5 each)...they honestly a bit undersizes for a 3.5L since each supports the equivalent of a 1.6L (x2=3.2L)

1. It appears as though the MAF is built into the filter lid, making it really difficult to put a cone on it.
2. You might be able to hole-saw a bunch of holes in the base, but you risk sucking in hot air. It would probably be a net gain though.
3. I don't think these are the GT15's that are on the car motor. I heard they are BW turbos.

Have to bring this one back , bc I would love to see and hear what an intake does on these trucks. I was reading somewhere else guys grouping the F150 together saying they don't like intakes. Seemed like a bunch of V8/5.4 guys, which is cool, but an EB motor is way different, and if its anything like my Mazdaspeed was, an intake that lets the turbos pull all the air they want would be a great little mod. Ideally, Ford would release an intake, like Mazda did that would not void warranty, but whats the chances of that happening. I also imagine many would not want to hear the turbos and bypass all the time. Me I always loved it, but then again, that was on a car. Trucks you just expect different noises I guess.

Why? How do you already know? Have you already made an intake and dyno tested it?

The SHO is making good gains with an intake/tune.

Injen is finishing up their R&D this week, so we should know soon how it works out. i've seen them not release applications before if they didn't perform, so hopefully it works out better than people expect.

The GT15 turbos are equipped on the SHO and Flex versions of the EB engine, the truck version has Borg Warner turbos. Not sure of the model.

I think the F150 EB has the (BW) K04-015...same size but better flow design than the GT15.
