Default Ecoboost and detonation

I have a 2011 F150 Ecoboost all stock with the exception of a CAI. Occasionally with partial throttle at highway speeds I hear some knocking/pinging which sound to me like detonation. Is this normal at all?

If it were detonation you would have a check engine light.

I had the same situation with my Afe stage 2, it was between 1500-2000 it would sort of thump and bump, kind of lagging. I had it on for 2 weeks and it came off after that.

Putting aftermarket intakes on these ecoboost trucks allows you to hear a lot of things the stock box insulates.

I have had the intake on for well over a year, and just noticed the sound recently. I only worry because I used to own a GMC Syclone and it used to do that, then the motor blew.
