Google Ford condensation patent. What's amazing is that there are very meticulously written explanations(not just from Ford) about cause and effect of condensation forming in intercoolers...when it forms, why if forms, and what happens when it gets ingested under hard acceleration. But basically it comes down to Ford was aware of this concern and built them the way they did anyway, leaving the owner to deal with it. Read through some of the parents it's very interesting...especially the one by Ford stating additional cost was a concern

That's all good but their fix didn't work for many people. But drilling "the hole" did work.

The first fix many years ago was a tube to the exhaust pipe to get rid of the condensation in the CAC. Problem was it would eventually clog. Thus a maintenance headache altho contaminating the environment was greatly reduced if you consider millions of them drilled.

Which patent (link to a specific patent) and why this would compromise it would be useful addition to your unsubstantiated claim.

Honestly, I see no reason to talk to a dealer about it. I wouldn't trust that they have an unbiased opinion in the case.

No way millions are drilled.

in my quick google search I saw several applications, no grants. What patents does Ford hold for their intercoolers?

It appears a lot of the water would be sucked back into the intake manifold when you let off on the gas an that is a vicious circle of stupid, when it sucks up a couple of droplets the engine stumbles so after you drive a few thousand miles and the condenser tank is accumulated it stumbles all the time like digging on a straw. http://www.google.com/patents/US20110107760

And? Is that system on the new 3.5 EcoBoost in the F150s? How does a small hole interfere with this implementation?

I was simply suggesting that drilling the hole might be needless.

It's hard for me to imagine that Ford hasn't found a fix......
