Considered replacing the plug boots until I was advised they were $15 apiece. I understand that is only $80 but it is still $80 for no sure thing. I've been told since then that Rock Auto has them for like $3 but that is just for the lower boot. Does changing them out require the 2-piece kit or just the lower?
Howdy.

Not replacing boots is like wearing Armani with dirty sneakers and skidmarked underwear.

Trying to save $80 against the very real consequences of misfires on an EB is .... a real bad decision.

Try just replacing the lowers first. See above. Use the correct gap. Use dilelectric. Torque them properly.

Do it right, aight?

good luck

Torque is key. The first set I did I torqued them down like I always do, no torque wrench and just snug. Wrong. I cracked a plug.

This utube explains it really well...

The CAC (intercooler) is on the intakes side and contributes mostly water, and the PCV is on the crankcase post combustion side, producing mostly oil and gas and some water goop, so they are separate solutions.

Did you unhook the battery when you did plugs? This clears the kam and will make the tranny operate differently for 150-200 miles

The boots were like $2 bucks each at the dealer last time I bought them and that's in Canada.

Thanks, MGD. You've snapped me into shape so I'm ordering the lowers from RockAuto and will proceed with my orders.

The first plug change I did not disconnect the battery.

The second one I did in order to do some terminal corrosion cleanup.

Oil coming out from intercooler after drill. I was really hesitate to do it, but after hours of reading the forum I decided to just take the plunge. Hope this extends the life of my motor a little.
