For what it's worth....I have a 2014 (4x4 XLT, supercab, ecoboost, 3.55 e-lock rear end) and I've never experienced this even at lower RPMs under slight load like you mentioned. Like driving up slight incline in high gears with the pedal pushed, but not enough to cause it to downshift. I'm running 87 octane all the time (in the Cincinnati area). Just about 10k miles on the truck now. So...just to chime in and say, it's not normal and not a nature of the beast so to speak. Mine hasn't done that and has always seemed to run well with no unusual knocking, pinging, bucking, etc.

Just found your post on drilling the hole in your inner cooler. Any condensation issues since? Thanks

I'm sorry, but I don't understand the dual valve catch can thing or the oil dilution issue. I am definitely going to drill the hole. I am having lots of condensation issues. Plan to replace plugs, AGAIN, and coils. Can you explain the dual valve, pcatch capn, oil dilution a little? Thanks so much for the posts. They are much more helpful than anything I get from Ford.

Rx condenses the vapors in the PCV system in the can removing them. Fuel is getting into the pan via the direct injection much like it happens with a diesel. As the oil heats up almost all the vapors are easily removed with the Can system before it can enter the intake manifold or condense in the CAC. UR maintenance is to dump the can of these which are more manifest with colder air/4 seasons / But not limited to it. Once UR draining the Can one can understand why he has it. It is a " best investment" before other mods decision especially if you notice the problem with UR usage.

I got the TSB done for Gas in engine oil and i lost power on a rainy day.
Also, i drilled the hole in the intercooler and quite a bit of glunk dripped down the hole.

Last year at this time, i had my engine oil level increase and strong smell of gas in oil.

Right now, there is NO smell of Gas and the engine oil level is also normal.
I always have the truck plugged in or atleast try to. Also, i have a cardboard behind the grill to get the engine warmed up faster.

So far so good. !!!

You'd be suprised how much energy they can use when plugged in all the time.

That's what the thermostat is for.

so with all the people that have drilled holes in the CAC at this point, is it necessary on the 2011 and 2012 trucks to have added/keep the partial shroud that ford installed as a work around if you have this hole drilled? Has anyone removed that partial shield after drilling the small hole? Did you lose any noticeable power (don't know how you would really measure that) from having that shield installed?
