Plug? Does the AFE have a drain plug built into it?

Default Condensation

I know at least two people have drilled the hole, so per LastResort's request, I wanted to get some before/after observations and results from drilling the hole.

And before anybody says it...
-It won't pull in dirt because there is never negative pressure there.
-It won't create an issue due to unmetered air because its not a MAF engine.
-It won't cause a decrease in boost because boost is on feedback control by the ECM.
-And finally, it won't cause a loss of engine power due to a reduction in airflow because a .050" hole will only leak .5 cfm at 15 psi.
I changed my plugs and drilled the weep hole. I drove it with no change. Maybe it takes a while for the condensation to get out of there completely?

Did you close up the gap or just put in new spark plugs ? Some of these have had the intake valve stems coke up and needed cleaning, pull the intake manifold to look see ?

Default drill the hole

After many loss of power issues, I changed the plugs, again, put new coils in and drilled the hole about 1.5 years ago. Have zero issues since then as far as loss of power goes. Drill the hole. You have to get the moisture out of the cooler

I drilled my CAC back around 50k miles. Not a single hiccup since, I now have 86k miles. Just have a bunch of slime/buildup under my intercooler now, haha.

I just drilled the hole tonight on my 2011 with 66k miles. Fixed my problem immediately.

Just thought I'd share.

What are you experiencing for behaviour? The hole should address the occasional ingestion of water after cruising in humidity and causing a significant downshift under WOT. The plugs are typically for regular WOT stutters/etc.

Maybe it's the coil packs, but at this point I'm guessing without knowing more about what's happening. And others might be better at diagnosing.

When the coils go out are they throwing codes? I noticed the idle on mine isn't as smooth as it was before. I couldn't even tell the engine was running before. I drilled the hole and had a catch can for about 3/4 of the 22k miles.

All it takes is one time to suck condensate from the CAC to hydro lock and bend one or two rods. Many will be a 1/16" away from the others as far as deck height measurement. Just search "ecoboost bent rod" and read about the issue. Of course your engine will run rougher when one or more of your rods are bent and your compression varies cyl to cyl.
