Has anyone ever has issues with drilling the hole in cold climates? After watching makuloco's new video I asked him what he thought about removing the blocker and drilling the hole. He said "Many have done that with a petcock but this will not work in cold weather states obviously so Ford would not offer that up as a fix but you can certainly do it if your climate allows."

Is this because it could possibly freeze?

It is hard to say. The contents can freeze but it would only produce the sludge while the truck is running and the turbos would heat up and thaw the intercooler pretty quick. Plus there would be no more than a very fine layer in there as it should always be draining.

Northern British Columbia here.
I've had no issues and I think it keeps the CAC clear with all the freeze, thaw, high moisture & humidity we get here.
Only the coldest of temps will the air temps in the CAC not melt ice under long drives, but even then you already have purged any build up. Always drained with a weep hole.

I wouldn't bother installing a petcock.

Ford is not gonna offer that as a fix due to the environmental issues associated with it not because of it not working in cold weather.

I need to drill the hole. My only concern is warranty work. If they see it I wonder if they will deny my warranty.

Especially if I remove the lower blocker plate.

If they saw it they likely would, if the issue was related to that part of the engine.

I drilled mine, screw Ford.

Warranty of the part may be affected, but a tiny screw will plug the hole it if you take it into the Dealer or yearly state inspection then take it back out.
