Default Ecoboost cai comparison

K&N-11hp/17ftlb tq
AirAid-20hp/39ftlb tq
Injen-19hp/33ftlb tq
Afe Satge 1-8hp/13ftln tq
Afe Stage 2-32hp/34ftlb tq

These are all manufacturers claim gains. From what I have read and seen, The two that seem to be the most legitimate are the K&N and the AFE Stage 1. Now this is without a tune mind you. This is just my opinon what is your opinion. Cause without a tune some of these numbers seem to outlandish. So what do you think post up your number and opinions. All right men fire away.

I have the Airaid, no dyno results to back it up but I have had it on and off several times and can feel a difference. And I like the sounds it makes

Aye, main reason I got it was so I could hear the turbo better which it def does.

That is the main reason I got mine also. But all this smoke blowing about massive gains come on. I can see 20+hp and tq with a CAI and an exhaust. I guess take dyno results with a grain of salt. And if you like your CAI that is all that matters. And the added sound of the turbos is a plus and a little extra hp is a plus also.

Since air filters are covered under my service plan I don't really expect to buy a CAI.

Well I do have the Airaid CAI and I like it but not replacing the factory intake tubes has been driving me crazy. I dont like the flex colar that is on the intake tube. So I ordered the K&N CAI AKA Turbo Killer lol I did like the injen but did not order due to rubbing the hood liner and metal tubes will produce heat soak. And the AFE Stage 2 metal tubes also heat soak and a bunch of bad reviews on the AFE. So I went with the K&N this go around to replace the factory intake tubes and it is poly to combat the heat soak so we will see how this one works out.

It would be nice if manufacturers would attach the graphs of the new HP/Tq curves of their CAI kits.

I know in my older daily driver (Jeep Cherokee... brick on wheels) I went with a K&N intake... and felt no difference, but could hear the intake much more. Their claims were for + 5HP & 7Ft/lbs or so... later research showed that was at WOT (wide open throttle) and since I rarely if ever drove that way... the changes were negligible.

Considering these Ecoboosts create their torque so low in the RPM range, I'd be very interested in seeing who's kit added the bigger numbers, in the RPM range more specific to these engines. If I can get another 10HP & 20+/- Ft/lbs and still peak at or near stock RPM... hell I'm all for that. If I have to mash the skinny pedal, and only see those numbers for 2-3 seconds, it does nothing for me as I don't drive that way.

All that said, I look forward to what others have to say, as it is something I am interested in, and possibly buying down the road.

You need to be at WOT to see your highest numbers. All manufactures are going to post the WOT pulls on the dyno because I don't know of anybody that goes to a dyno and does 3/4 throttle or 1/2 throttle pulls.
